This is sparkling wine country, there are dozens of Spain’s best bodegas within easy reach, and the 1913 Modernist-style house is absolutely glorious. Owner Mark, a quietly spoken American from Chicago, and his Catalan wife brought their children up while renovating the house with great passion and love. They’ve preserved the original beauty of the house and enhanced it with a long modern kitchen, lighting and seating. You’ll love the original ironwork and tiled ‘carpets’ in big uncluttered rooms with plenty of detail. There’s a playroom, three bathrooms, four terraces, a walled and leafy garden with nooks and crannies to disappear into, frog-filled ponds and a refreshing salt swimming pool. The small agricultural working village (industry on the outskirts) is just one hour from Barcelona and thirty minutes from Sitges and the Mediterranean. This is an ideal spot for a group who want a special place with character and history, that functions well and that has the feel of a home. It would be great for special events too.
