The Experience

Once the hacienda produced ice for Seville – note the ice pit’s frescos, created by Napoleonic soldiers, and the old smokery’s tiles and blackened beams, protected and preserved by a new roof above. The history and fabric of this prize-winning restoration captured our imagination, along with the enthusiasm of its Belgian owners. Drive through the beautiful countryside of the Parque Natural and pull up before a glorious classical façade, behind which lie five rustic-chic, air-conditioned apartments with white walls and masses of light. Delight awaits at every turn: Moroccan rugs warm terracotta floors, cream linen curtains dress new windows, kitchens have stylish mod cons. There are great big beds with fat mattresses, lovely bathrooms, stainless steel lamps, stylish antiques and scatterings of white cushions. Discover a metal staircase here, a wood-burner there, exposed stones and beams. Find a shady corner to relax, organic olive groves to roam, restaurants a five-minute drive, and a new saltwater pool with a view. Eco-friendly too: solar panels, an EV charging station and an eco-filtering system for their water means sustainability is taken seriously here. Explore the nearby and recently opened Via Verde (ex railway line) by foot or bike.

Local points of interest from Dirk

  • You feel like at home. The building is full of special corners to discover. Swimming in a pool with a view. Just relaxing ......
  • In the middle of the natural park of Sierra Norte de Seville, declared Natural Heritage by Unesco, denominated "The Dehesas de Sierra Morena"
  • Beautiful surroundings ideal for walking and biking. Close to the Via Verde, The cascades of the Huéznar river, Cierro de Hierro, and much more. Rich in fauna and flora. Ideal for birth watching.
  • Lodging and sleeping in an old Ice factory, declared Cultural Heritage and recognized with a special nomination by Europa Nostra.
  • Enjoying the nice tapas and terraces in Constantina. Did you know that Constantina is the centre of the Iberique pig production?
  • We are in the process of working on the sustainable development goals and to reduce Co2 footprint. Beside our solar panel area & a EV charger we now have this water treatment plant that works with natural evaporation using vegetation.
