The
Experience

One of the hippest hotels to open in recent years, Fountainhead surveys Andalucía at its wildest – a mere 15 miles from Málaga. Sierra de Caramolos unfolds behind an unadulterated scene of olive groves and almond trees; the peace is incredible. A carob tree marks your entry onto the walled patio where a circular hole in the wall portals a covered walkway to your own casita, bordered by wild flowers and trim cacti. These four casitas – Indian, Sultan, Oriental, Arizona – have been conceived with zen-like lines that belie Helen’s fiesta of designer touches and glorious patterns. The fridge is packed full of goodies from manchego cheese to strawberries, while hot croissants and fresh bread are delivered to your door each morning. Architects by trade, Helen and Peter are your thoughtful hosts, keen on giving cosseted privacy, zealous about organics and your well-being. They now produce their own olive oil, vegetables, almonds and natural creams and soaps. Unsurprisingly, the food is excellent with staples of langoustine broth with lemon grass, and terrine of quail and chicken. Even the wheelbarrows are stylish.

Reviews

This is a find! So much so that I'm almost reluctant to review it! Fabulous covers it nicely! From the peace & quiet to the spa treatments it amazing. Food in a league of its own coupled with the host Peter's knowledge of Spanish wine! We will return
