Rooms sleep 2

From your room it’s a few steps onto the main street in Benahavis, an Andalucian gastro village with a lively atmosphere in the evenings as foodies arrive to explore its multitude of restaurants – from simple tapas to more complex cuisine at the swanky Molino de Conde. Owners Elaine and Alan used to run a restaurant too, but have now converted the space into two lovely B&B rooms, perfectly proportioned, light and airy.  ‘Bolonia’ has a neat nautical air,  ‘Tarifa’ is a little larger – both have thick sprung mattresses, piles of pillows, air conditioning and chic bathrooms. Breakfast at a little table on your private terrace – fruit salad, smoked salmon, avocado, ham and cheese, local honey and jams – or in the lovely tiled breakfast room. Work up an appetite for your gastronomic adventures with walking for everyone from beginners to hardy hikers. Alan will point you in the right direction, whether it’s steep up to Moorish ruins or a flatter stroll by the nearby reservoir. Try canyoning in the gorge, yoga classes, a choice of six manicured golf courses or a visit to Marbella old town. Fabulous for a romantic break.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Alan Burns & Elaine Burns

  • RONDA - can be reached in less than an hour by car. It is one of Andalucia’s oldest and most spectacular towns with an amazing gorge. The town has a colourful and romantic past in Spanish folklore. It is famed for its gastronomy and locally produced wines.
  • PUERTO BANUS - 15 minutes drive away - is known as a jet set playground. Sip a cocktail in the port watching the luxury yachts and the Ferraris and Lamborghinis drive by, shop in upmarket boutiques or enjoy a long lazy meal in one of the many restaurants.
  • MARBELLA – a 20 min drive - is known as a glamorous resort town and is a favourite location with the rich and famous. The charming old town with its narrow cobbled streets and flower-filled plazas is packed with delightful shops, galleries and restaurants.
  • BENAHAVIS HILLS SPA - Relax and soak in the magnificent vistas whilst enjoying the huge array of treatments and facilities. Eat in the open-air restaurant which offers a light, casual menu which you can enjoy with ocean breezes and stunning views.
  • CAMINO DEL REY – Just over an hour away – an award winning 3 km-long, dizzying, cliff-side path. Built 100 metres above a magnificent gorge. A must for thrill seekers. A beautiful area with gorgeous scenery and an amazing array of wildlife.
  • SAN PEDRO DE ALCANTARA - 10 mins by car - a refreshingly unspoilt pueblo. Stroll through the Boulevard Park or head to the centre with its narrow streets packed with small shops, cafes and bars. Beautiful safe beach and promenade. Thursday morning market.
