You’re in a wonderfully central spot – perfect for exploring the delightful towns of the Veneto region. Gabriella and Sandro are a considerate, charming couple who give you three lovely apartments in the rural annexe of their 19th-century villa surrounded by acres of elegant gardens and woodland. Whichever apartment you choose you’ll find the original style and atmosphere of an old Venetian house with wooden and terracotta tiled floors, beamed ceilings and doors leading to the portico and gardens. Antique furniture is from the owners’ collection and is offset with some more modern pieces for a fresh, lively style. ‘Altana’ (the biggest) has a small private sitting space under the linden trees with a table, chairs and chaise longue; ‘Mezà’ and ‘Portico’ (both for two) can use the barchessa garden with their own table, chairs and benches for dining. Kitchens are slick with mod cons and American coffee machines, air-conditioning keeps you comfortable on the hottest days and views soar across the historical garden with its old trees – wander round the serene lake, feed the ducks, discover the shy grey heron.
