The roads of the Dolomite foothills wind from one village to the other till they reach the outskirts of the small village of Cavaso, and the amazing Casa Vecia. Roberto and Gaia, gentle and delightful, chose to work remotely from this idyllic spot. Their new bio-sustainable home, fashioned from an ancient farmhouse, is on sloping ground: the family’s quarters on the lower level, the guest rooms above. A lush garden surrounds it all, backed by woods to one side and vines to the other; pick a snazzy lounger and gaze on the vineyards. Imagine breakfast here on the sweeping deck, a feast of breads, cheeses, cakes and jams, in the heart of prosecco country. Bedrooms and bathrooms are large and luminous, with vast beds, leather headboards, plush white bath linens on heated rails, and big curtainless windows. You might visit the medieval fortress at Castelfrranco Veneto, or the enchanting city of Treviso, or dine on Michelin stars near the abbey in Follina. Return to white beams and greywood floors; white sofas on white carpet from Sardinia; sliding glass doors for summer, a cone and glass fireplace for winter. Uber-chic bliss.
