The Experience

Once you’ve wrenched your gaze from pool-side panoramas over the forested flanks of Monte Subasio National Park, and had your senses tickled by the sweet orchestra of lavender, Russian sage and Mediterranean herbs that assail you – strategically planted to waft their perfumes into the apartments – let wonderful hosts Ella and Alessandro welcome you to their 17-acre farm estate. Beautiful mural and decorative work embellishes these homely, colourful, bohemian interiors. Antique kettles and pots, bunches of dried herbs suspended from ceilings, well-stocked wine racks and flora ‘n’ fauna painted surrounds to mirrors and French windows, all lend themselves to a relaxed vibe, while an organic vegetable garden, and a yurt tucked away in the woods, add to the communal, convivial idyll. Treat yourselves to a meal prepared by chef Alessandro if you don’t feel like cooking. There’s WiFi if you need it but it won’t distract you from the views; lap them up from your balconied terrace. Better still, take the book of local walks provided, add a picnic, and head for the wooded hills.

Reviews

What a magical place. Warm and inviting the moment my husband and I set foot onto Casa Rosa. Each morning we would enjoy our coffee from our private terrace, overlooking the most stunning views of the National Park, Mount Subasio. Casa Rosa is so peaceful and beautiful! We took many walks and saw some incredible wildlife(one of them leading to a waterfall!) In our month of Italy it's our favorite place we stayed at. The owners, Ella and Alessandro are the kindest and treated us to their local tips. It was perfect. Filled with fun, food, wine and history of Assisi. Can't wait to come back.

Local points of interest from Ella Grima

  • Chef Alessandro's private dining: Chef Alessandro can come to your apartment and prepare traditional Umbrian dishes for you and your family to enjoy at home.
  • There are many walks that you can go on from Casa Rosa. On your way you can discover the yurts in the woods, follow the old mule trail around the woodland and walk through the olive orchard exploring the wildlife.
  • A swim at the Secret Placel - a 20 minute walk through the fields will lead you to a wonderful waterfall and natural pool. The perfect place to chill out on a hot summer day!!
  • Tasty homemade Italian dishes made by local chef Alessandro available in the deep-freeze (these include lasagne, cannelloni, meatballs and vegetarian bakes).
  • SPA Roman Baths in Assisi: the recently restored Roman SPA in Assisi is a relaxing and unique experience. The restoration and adaptation of the original Roman Bath is in itself interesting to see.
  • Take a tour of one of the vineyards and the cellars in the area, ending with a tasting of all the classical Umbrian wines.
