The
Experience

Italophile wine buffs will revel in this gorgeous place and the embracing warmth of the Marcelli family. Tulio loves to talk about their vineyard and the history of the estate – centred on the courtyard: a handsome accumulation of buildings with 12th century origins, including the chapel where he and Linda married. She takes care of their children and guests with unfussy style. In a separate building across from the main house are her simply elegant rooms. Each has a living area with sofa, desk, books and TV. Busatti bed linen, firm mattresses and plump feather pillows on wrought iron and classic dark wood beds; stone, beams, boards and wonderfully chunky doors. More Busatti in the big bathrooms and downstairs – pretty much whenever you like – breakfast, served on colourful clay pottery, is a celebration of things homemade, local and organic: a freshly baked cake and bread every day, jams and honey, cheeses and charcuterie. It’s deeply peaceful here yet only 15 minutes’ from bustling Arezzo with its grand piazzas and antique market; bliss to return for a cooling dip in the pool, to the sound of crickets.

Local points of interest from

  • Our village is immersed in the Tuscan countryside amongst olive groves and vineyards in a rejuvenating tranquility. We produce olive oil and organic wine, and are perfectly placed if you want to visit the province of Arezzo or the rest of Tuscany.
  • Arezzo is a peaceful small town where you can admire Piero della Francesca’s famous frescoes in the church of San Francesco, visit the churchs of San Domenico and Santa Maria in Gradi, wonderful Arezzo Cathedral and the Casa Vasari palace.
  • Amble down the historical centre’s alleys and side streets and breath in the city’s air, rich in culture and history, and taste Arezzo’s traditional dishes of olive oil bruschetta, panzanella, tomato soup, spelt salad and more.
  • Browse the stalls of the monthly antiques fair or step back in time at the biannual Saracen joust of Arezzo. In the surrounding area you’ll find villages renowned for their beauty and spirituality, such as Poppi, Stia, and Montemignaio.
  • Other places well worth a visit are Ortignano Raggiolo, Anghiari, Monterchi, Sansepolcro, Caprese Michelangelo, Santuario della Verna, Eremo di Cerbaiolo, Pieve a Romena, Civitella in Val di Chiana, Laterina, Cortona and Castiglion Fibocchi.
  • Absolutely not to be missed is the cuisine based on the typical products of our area, prepared in the traditional rural way passed down by our grandmothers’, seasoned with Tuscan olive oil and accompanied by wine.
