Imagine this location for a gathering of the clans! Here, 250m above sea level, facing the North Sicilian coast, all you hear is the stir of the pines and the splash of a dive into the pool. It’s not easy to find: make sure Massimo’s brother Stefano (he’s a delight) accompanies you up the steep winding road. Sparkling and recently refurbished, this 1970s house is divided into two separate units to give privacy for a large party: note the external stair to three bedrooms above. Everything is ready and waiting for a crowd, from the kitchen’s vast stove and pizza oven, and the huge table and the huger one on the terrace, to the whopping double shower on the ground floor. Colours are inoffensive, beds brand new, furniture unfussy and easy. No need for parents to stress; instead, sip an aperitivo on the terrace. Cefalù is on a promontory so there’s a lot of coast. Rocky or sandy, all of it is great. You can hike in the Madonie mountains or bask on the beaches below. The perfumed air is intoxicating, the Eolian Isles appear on the horizon and there’s gorgeous vegetation all around.
