Jane has created a beautifully relaxing retreat, with a pizza oven outside and a splash pool by the olive trees. Fun art workshops, too

Vivacious Jane Shaw is a potter who gives tailor-made courses in her airy workshop. She has carried out extensive works on her house, at the heart of which is a delightful little two cone trullo… it’s a lovely vibrant place in which to live and work. There are just two rooms in the guest wing, ideal for couples or families (only ever let to one party as they share a bathroom). The bedrooms are charming – terracotta floors, a Deco bed from Naples, her daughter’s artwork, garden views – and have a happy, homely feel. Guests are also free to relax in Jane’s large sitting room with its sofas and wood-burner. You breakfast – lavishly – in the wonderfully lofty kitchen, with three skylights and a wall of wood-framed glass, or outside in the canopied al fresco area with its mismatched wooden furniture and hanging lanterns. Recently Jane has built a sumptuous gazebo ~ great for a relaxing siesta or a pre-dinner aperitivo. This overlooks the garden full of gnarled olive trees, lofty pines, abundant fruit trees and striking cacti. There’s a small hexagonal plunge pool with night lighting for bobbing about  – lovely.

We stayed at Vivificante for the whole of our 10 day visit and had a fantastic time. Jane worked tirelessly everyday to ensure that we could do the things that we had planned, including making sure that my pots were fired and glazed ready for the trip home. She is an authentic member of the community with lots of Italian friends and a real expert on the local, food, restaurants, and the most interesting places to visit. We were so relaxed at the end of our stay that we missed the plane home, but not to worry as Jane there with advice that we needed to solve the problem. We would visit again.

Visited as a group of 4 last year and received a warm welcome. It is a very friendly place and near to many restaurants but also secluded enough to be quiet and peaceful in the evenings. It is also an excellent location for visiting most of Puglia.

We have just returned from a lovely week in Paglia and stayed at the wonderful vivificante property. Jane is a wonderful host and helped make our week as enjoyable as possible. We are a family of 4 with 2 young children and hence being able to keep them interested and active is important .Jane was a great help with ideas for days out. The pool at the property is shallow so perfect for the girls .Jane's property is beautifully kept with plenty of areas to relax. We also had a meal cooked by Jane on our final night which was a nice treat and fantastic. We look forward to returning. Ciao

We had a wonderful 9 days at Jane's lovely house. It was relaxed, friendly and comfortable. The pool and gardens were delightful. We picked fresh figs for breakfast. Jane was welcoming and so helpful. She sent us off to restaurants and beaches we would not have found without her. We felt we were staying with a friend rather than a hostess. Cannot recommend Vivificante highly enough!

Jane has created an inviting place to stay in a romantic area of Puglia. She is an artist, and her home is decorated with her wonderful pieces. The room and comfortable and clean. Jane is knowledgeable of things to do and places to eat, and she was able to send us to some nearby restaurants where we had great meals. We plan to return next year and will stay with Jane if possible.

We visited Jane's interesting Trullo house early in the season and we were not disappointed. We were pointed in the right direction for places to see and eat all of which were well researched and worthwhile. Jane really put herself out to ensure that we had a good time and was most helpful with local garages sorting out a problem with our hire car. The pottery was a bonus and great fun she is a talented potter and helped us produce something almost worthy of keeping! Interesting area and good central location.
