Vivacious Jane Shaw is a potter who gives tailor-made courses in her airy workshop. She has carried out extensive works on her house, at the heart of which is a delightful little two cone trullo… it’s a lovely vibrant place in which to live and work. There are just two rooms in the guest wing, ideal for couples or families (only ever let to one party as they share a bathroom). The bedrooms are charming – terracotta floors, a Deco bed from Naples, her daughter’s artwork, garden views – and have a happy, homely feel. Guests are also free to relax in Jane’s large sitting room with its sofas and wood-burner. You breakfast – lavishly – in the wonderfully lofty kitchen, with three skylights and a wall of wood-framed glass, or outside in the canopied al fresco area with its mismatched wooden furniture and hanging lanterns. Recently Jane has built a sumptuous gazebo ~ great for a relaxing siesta or a pre-dinner aperitivo. This overlooks the garden full of gnarled olive trees, lofty pines, abundant fruit trees and striking cacti. There’s a small hexagonal plunge pool with night lighting for bobbing about – lovely.
