Flower spill from the balcony, fill the patio, clasp the walls of the cottage… wisteria, vines, azaleas, roses. It’s an immaculate garden, with lawns, spreading trees, boules pitch and delightfully discreet summer pool. Roberta’s lovely, too, warm and friendly, and will make you feel part of the family. They moved to this residential street close to the pretty village years ago – she and David, their daughters, Roberta’s parents and two lovely dogs. As for the house, it was restored, then filled with beautiful things with splashes of the orient. The charming and private twin room, named after Grandmama, has windows facing two ways, over the garden and towards Monte Rosa; imagine whitewashed walls, blue-painted beds, cotton rugs, a comfy sofa, a big bathroom. The independent cottage (once the garden’s tool shed) is perfect with a romantic loft bedroom upstairs and a sofabed downstairs for the children. Breakfast? A feast of homemade bread and jams, cakes, yogurts, fresh fruits. The place is irresistible… but should you stray, the lakes of Orta and Maggiore are a 20-minute drive.
