The
Experience

Revel in the silence here, where 360 degree views from the hilltop take in a patchwork of sunflower fields and cereal crops. The beautifully-designed pool has the best vantage point; guests love the pergola in the neatly kept gardens too, where olive trees, bougainvillea and herbs are planted. At the ‘borgo’, traditional stone exteriors conceal minimalist contemporary interiors, with doubles up on the first floor and the suite in a separate building. Immaculate rooms and discreet hospitality are most definitely on offer. Hosts Andrea and Deborah, originally from Milan, love to get all the details right but will never intrude.  They relish baking bread and cakes for breakfasts, and Andrea may also whip up creative light lunches and occasional dinners on request. Sustainable technology is high on the agenda, so rainwater is collected for irrigation and photovoltaic panels convert Italian sun into electricity. From here, history and art lovers might flock to the old Marches towns or the pilgrims’ spiritual centre in Loreto, whilst explorers head for the Frasassi caves and Gola della Rossa nature reserve.

Location

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Deborah & Andrea

  • Borgo della Spiga is thought for those who enjoy a more sedentary vacation of total relaxation and for those who like to explore because it is located in the heart of the Marche countryside, just a few kilometers from Cingoli, the "Balcony of the Marche"
  • "Do and Learn" to get in touch with local culture and good food: Local cooking lessons, Local tasting (wine, cheese and jam), Rural experiences like truffles and vintage
  • The territory of the Marche is seamlessly dotted with small cities of art enriched by palaces, castles, walls, towers, churches and theaters: Treia, Matelica, Montecassiano, Montecosaro, San Ginesio, Montelupone, Sarnano are some examples
  • The Frasassi Grottoes - 40km away - are one of the most beautiful places in the entire Italian territory. Considering the largest underground complex in Europe, they are characterized by a series of underground passages with a length of about 30km
  • Loreto - 50km away - is famous for being the home of the Basilica of the Holy House, one of the oldest and most important Marian pilgrimage sites in the Catholic world
  • The Conero Regional Nature Park - 60km away - is a rare beauty with panoramic views and enchanting beaches like those in the bay of Portonovo
