The
Experience

Slow down as you spiral up from Lake Como to a 400-year-old cascina floating in Spina Verde’s bucolic hills. Be inspired by soaring Alpine views and by Samuel’s stylish eco-friendly restoration. The smell of fresh pine wafts through stone-walled bedrooms with huge beams, fireplaces, oriental rugs and bold red splashes. You lay your sleepy head on organic pillows, scribble postcards on reclaimed tables, fling open shutters to mountain views. Nature keeps the old farm estate beautiful with wild flowers, birds, bees and other creatures who buzz, tweet, flutter and scurry around the chestnuts, fruit trees and olives. Stroll through them to a hidden thousand-year-old sanctuary. Breakfast – perhaps homemade pancakes, organic eggs, garden berries – is a treat under the portico or in the vaulted Sala da Pranzo, where logs crackle in a new fireplace. Above this, an Open Space offers a blank, bean-bagged canvas for creative gatherings. Pop to the village restaurant for dinner or roll through the hills to Switzerland. Samuel and Mimma’s enthusiasm for this special spot will warm your spirit, and the scenery will thrill your heart.

Superb food and thoughtful hospitality in an exceptionally skilled renovation of an old property in beautiful surroundings...and dogs welcome!

Sarah, Ebberston

Cascina Rodiani is both beautiful and comfortable. The view from our suite was breathtaking. Samuel is a kind and generous host, and his breakfasts are outstanding. We would love to return one day.

I can't recommend this B&B highly enough. It's better than many big hotels as it is totally personal - you feel at home as soon as you arrive and all the rooms are very comfortable and beautifully appointed. The house has been restored to a very high standard, the food is wonderful and the hosts also fantastic. We were supposed to stay one night, but ended up staying 3 as we loved it so much.

If you want a memorable experience to share with your friends then stay here! It is a magical and inspirational place where you feel the soul of Italy. I stayed a week for an oil and cold wax painting workshop. Samuel makes you feel welcome! The ambiance of the cascina, the fabulous food from the garden and the lodging is comfortable and everything you could ask for. I will be back in the future and highly recommend it to everyone.

We had a very warm welcome at this lovely rustic retreat. Our room was very comfortable and airy with the added bonus of a kettle, so we were able to enjoy a hot, refreshing mug of tea every night on the terrace. Bliss! Samuel was a great host and very helpful and informative. Very tasty and nutritious breakfasts freshly prepared with home sourced organic ingredients were a great start to the day. In summary a real gem and excellent value.

We stayed at Cascina Rodiani with our 3 children (14, 11 and 8 yo) for 2 nights. It was a wonderfull experience - the beauty and tranquility of the old restored farm house, nice food and above all the hospitality of Samuel. We felt at home and will surely repeat it in the future!

Mariana, Schiedam

We had great time at this beautifully restored old house and Samuel was the perfect host and the food was delicious. It is a wonderful place! Thank you so much for the lovely, relaxing time!

Remote, Rustic and Wonderful. Over the years I have booked many superb places to stay recommended by Sawdays and I rate this one as simply the best. Initially I was purely looking for an overnight B&B in the Como area as I was driving from Englnd to near Florence in Italy. There were 4 in our party and the family suite was perfect and made a change from two separate rooms in the normal B&B hotels. After looking at the photos, we decided to stay another night and would have loved to stay more. Samuel was fantastic serving breakfasts and an evening meal on the covered area just outside our suite

Wonderfull cascina-beautifully renovated and lovingly cared for by the amazing Samuel who is passionate about the environment. The breakfasts and dinner were absolutely delicious. We were travelling from italy to the Alsace and this was a perfect stop over, just wish we could have stayed longer. Another sawdays success.

A beautiful place in a stunning location. The room we had was large comfortable and spotlessly clean. Samuel served dinner on the first night which was first class with much local produce. The breakfasts served outside the room on the terrace were superb. Many thanks Samuel and congratulations on your lovely property.

Samuel is the careful and generous host in this beautiful former farm set in the hills, outside Como. We very much appreciated the time he took to give us advice and the wonderful breakfasts he prepared. We also recommand his delicious dinners. Gook luck, Samuel and looking forward to seeing you again.

Isabelle, Geneva

So beautiful and a fantastic host. We arrived late and tired after a very long journey with our dogs. Samuel welcomed us, fed us a fabulous three course meal and watered us with excellent organic wine. Breakfast was also all homemade with bread, cakes and jams and fresh leaf, herbal tea. Our room was gorgeous. Huge, open fire place, lovely bathroom, really comfy bed. Very dog friendly as well. Samuel and his family have painstakingly restored this beautiful building and everything they do is focussed on sustainability. I completely recommend a visit.

Exceptionally eco-friendly B&B - If you're looking the perfect combination of peace, amazing views and things to do, this is the place for you! Samuel and Mimma are a pleasure to talk to, their food is superb and they will make you feel at home. Lake Como and its attractions are a short drive away but you will be looking forward to going back to Cascina Rodiani's tranquillity. Thank you for a lovely stay :)

Vanessa, Bristol

The peace of Cascina Rodiani, the warmth of Samuel's welcome, the beautiful room, a comfy bed, the dark dark nights, the food, the bird song and the surrounding area all added up to a lovely, lovely four days. I really hope we will be able to return. Samuel's passion and commitment to the principles of green hospitality and how he's achieving them make it all the more an extraordinary place to stay. We'd highly recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful, peaceful location. Samuel is a great host and very welcoming. Rooms are gorgeous - bright. airy and a lovely mix of old and new. Breakfast even better served overlooking the wonderful local vista. Would definitely return.

What a lovely experience! Samuel, and all his ongoing hard work, at Cascina Rodiani provided us with a wonderful stay for five nights. The welcome, food, surroundings and general calmness were all top quality. Samuel's breakfasts and cooking kept us well-sustained and his very friendly approach in supplying varied info and guidance on where to go and what to see in the stunning area of Lago di Como made the holiday. The room we had was very well furnished and relaxing and breakfast and dinner on the terrace was luxurious. We highly recommend Cascina Rodiani and we will certainly visit again.

William, Derby

I can fully agree with all the other putstanding comments. It was really an exceptional b&b with a fantastic host. We travel 10 year with Sawday's, this was one of our best experiences. Is you want to stay in the region, and like to stay in the nature, dont look any further...

Jean, Gent

Awesome place in a gorgeous setting. Breakfasts delicious. Welcome warm and genuine. Highly recommended!

Cascina Rodiani was our 2nd overnight stay, driving from UK to Tuscany (the scenic route). On arrival we were impressed by the private and secluded entrance leading up to a fantastic, immaculately restored cascina. Beautiful grounds and surrounding area. Samuel was a fantastic host and produced excellent food served on the balcony area, right outside our door. The room was perfect and was an impressive example of how sympathy to the environment could be beautifully and seamlessly incorporated. I fully recommend staying here.
