Perched high above the western shore of Lake Garda amidst 40 acres of forest, come for the views, the gracious public rooms, and the sheer comfort. After 40 years in the motor-racing business, energetic proprietor Gabriele Seresina has created a sumptuous Lombardy retreat in a late 19th-century hunting lodge in the splendour of the Italian lakes, just under 8km from the lakeside town of Gargnano. The honey-coloured villa is grand but also welcoming: attentive staff, well-crafted décor thanks to Gabriele’s wife’s background in fashion, warm colours, hand-picked dark wooden furniture, plush fabrics, marble bathrooms, and a mix of set piece open spaces and intimate corners. Split between the main villa and neighbouring dépendance, bedrooms are individually designed and come with either lake or park views. Breakfast on the terrace gazing out to the mountains, spend the day by the pool, on the lake, or visiting Verona under two hours away, and return for drinks and dinner in the elegant dining room. And if it all gets too much? Just soak up the peace and quiet or book an ayurvedic massage and retreat to the steam room.
