Olive groves, vines and orchards surround this tranquil agriturismo in the Morainic Hills. Lorenzo and Giovanna have transformed his family’s old mill into a lovely retreat for foodies, cyclists and walkers. Charming apartments and B&B rooms are divided between the main house, built in the 1950s, and a single-storey barn conversion. All have exposed beams, stone floors and colourful bedspreads, while Lorenzo’s expressive paintings brighten the walls. En-suite bathrooms are spacious and modern, with fluffy towels and walk-in showers. Every room opens on to an outdoor seating area perfect for sipping an aperitif as the sun sets. A generous breakfast buffet including fruit, bread and homemade cakes, is served at glass tables in the large restaurant or under the shade of the pergola. Apartments have well-equipped kitchens for self-catering, but Lorenzo’s wonderfully creative dinners might tempt you back to the restaurant… Outside, there’s a pool to cool off in and acres of grounds to explore. For adventures a little further afield, hike through the Parco del Mincio, visit Lake Garda or make a day-trip to Verona.
