The Experience

Wind your way up from busy Sorrento and discover a slower, local way of life at this peaceful villa. Although there are neighbours close, this three-storey limestone house feels like it stands on its own facing out to the sea. The four double bedrooms each have an ensuite bathroom and a terrace with a sea view.

Book a cookery or pizza-making lesson with Emanuela’s mother, or have a chef prepare your meals using local recipes and organic produce – the kitchen is very well equipped. Enjoy your meals with a view outside and don’t miss the sunset – you have a front-row seat from the terrace.

Head to Capodimonte for limoncello tasting, explore the Amalfi coast, hike the surrounding countryside, book a massage in the villa or idle in the garden with a drink and a snack from the honesty bar. There’s a hot tub and a small pool here too.

Reviews

To truly grasp the essence of a stay in this special place, a longer stay is highly recommended. Leave everything up to very knowledgeable native hosts Emanuela and Carlo and you will be assured of an authentic local experience with all the trimmings. With so many interesting choices of places to explore combined with enough time for true relaxation in the fragrant herbal garden among olive and lemon trees, a week or more is suggested.

Location

The neighbourhood

The house is in Priora, a sleepy area on the outskirts of Sorrento. You can walk into town in 15 minutes or get dropped off by shuttle van. Drive 5 km to the village of Sant’agata for two top-rated restaurants, Don Alfonso 1890 or Lo Stuzzichino; your hosts also have a family restaurant, Ristorante Bar Ruccio, in the Port of Sorrento (20 minutes). Besides classic visits to Pompeii, Ercolano and Naples you can hike to the top of the Sorrento Peninsula or to the town of Massa Lubrense on the opposite side, passing by the hamlet of Santa Maria Annunziata for spectacular views over Capri.

Local points of interest from Carlo Roga

  • Our family owns a Seafood waterfront restaurant in the port of Sorrento and we offer free courtesy car service to reach the restaurant that our family has managed for 45 years as well as an ice cream parlour on Sorrento's main street.
  • We are about 2.50 miles from the city center of Sorrento reached by a walking path that offers breathtaking views over the Gulf and a lot of silence and peace.

Introducing

Carlo Roga

Emanuela is a dedicated, hands-on hostess with plenty of energy, and Carlo looks after the garden. They do an admirable job of taking full care of their guests and guaranteeing an insider’s view of the area. Emanuela has been given credit for instigating the city bike system in Sorrento, and Carlo comes from a family of restauranteurs. They have two friendly Labradors.
