The
Experience

Dalkey is one of Ireland’s most charming villages with gorgeous watery views over Killiney Bay and this pink Georgian ‘villa’, the last house at the edge of the village, has one of the best. Kind Jennifer opens her home for guests: curl up with a good book in a cosy pink sitting room, breakfast on homemade soda bread and muesli in the open fire’d kitchen, potter about the lavishly furnished drawing room (she has restored and re-upholstered much of the Victorian furniture). Above the kitchen is a delightful sunroom with flowering plumbago, striped sofa and a small sea-facing balcony (breakfast here when the weather’s clement). Your hostess is a passionate gardener: spot the potted mop head olive trees sitting happily at the front door and at the back a manicured lawn and a path winding up the rock face swathed in tropical flowers. Two bedrooms upstairs at the back are small, comfortable and en suite, another larger bedroom is at the front with sea views. It’s a short walk into the village for dinner, markets, galleries; sailing in Dun Laoghaire is ten minutes in the car and the delights of Dublin just ten miles.

Reviews

We spent 2 delightful nights at Dalkey Island View. The room was excellent, the breakfasts superb, and the hosts were charming - and helpful. The house is incredibly well situated for access to Dublin via the DART, and there are superb restaurants in Dalkey. We will definitely stay here again!

What a wonderful B&B, everything about Dalkey Island View is outstanding. The house is beautiful, the beds are so comfortable but nothing will prepare you for the views from the breakfast room.Jennifer is a warm, welcoming hostess. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here.

Grace

We truly enjoyed our stay in this charming B&B in the pretty town of Dalkey. The accommodations were comfortable, the breakfasts outstanding (especially the muesli!), and the views could not be beat. The hosts were gracious and attentive, and we enjoyed the company of another couple visiting from Italy. The town of Dalkey is rich in history, and has easy access from Dublin via Air Coach (from airport) or the Dart. The B&B was quite walkable to restaurants, shops and the harbor. The gardens were lush... so wine & cheese on the balcony, overlooking the ocean, was a delight!

Julia, Las vegas

This is a very special place to stay; beautiful, comfortable house with elegant antiques and great attention to detail. Our best ever breakfast, delicious homemade treats which were beautifully presented and plentiful. The views from the gorgeous balcony of the sea and the impressive gardens were stunning.

Jackie

Great location, really peaceful, lovely view from front bedroom and breakfast room, bed was very comfortable, the owner was very flexible in terms of breakfast times which was a big plus for us, Dalkey is a lovely little place.

Lucy

Delightful place! Stunning views and nicely decorated house. The room we were given, had an adjoining private sitting room/conservatory with a roaring fire, loads of books & magazines and stunning views of the sea. This is where we were given a delicious breakfast and the Irish Times. It made our stay very relaxed as we were able to eat breakfast wearing slippers and not be dressed and ready for a 'dining room experience'! The hosts were very friendly and helpful and kindly offered us a lift into a Dalkey in the evening. Dalkey is only a 10 minute walk away. Great place - highly recommend!
