This historic château brims with antiques, books, engravings and art but the living is easy - bring the family

Grand and pure 17th century with a moat and magnificent avenue of trees leading to the door. Yet you discover a laid-back, lived-in atmosphere with three salons for guests and little change for 50 years. Find lofty ceilings, antiques, books, engravings and butterfly collections galore. Meals are easy-going, with drinks before and tea in the lounge afterwards. Bedrooms are charmingly faded; all face the sun and have lovely park views and rather eccentric, ancient bathrooms. First-floor rooms are the ones to go for – proper château stuff. Anglophile Rémy is a charming host; his gardens handsome, formal, wonderful. Pack a woolly jumper in the winter…

A real old chateau, with Count and family looking after us so well. Well worn but comfortable, with echoing corridors. The evening meal was the best meal we had during 2 weeks traveling in France, so good we rebooked for a night on our travel back up to ferry the following week.

What a privilege! Felt like an honoured guest of this absolutely DELIGHTFUL family! Stunning building set in tranquil countryside boasting its own chapel. Remy greeted us on the steps of this amazing building. We were presented with a pot of tea on our arrival. The room, toile de jouey fabric on the walls boasted a four poster bed and was stuffed with antiques. We enjoyed a chat and a glass of wine before sitting down to a gourmet meal served by two beautiful daughters. The whole experience was amazing! We will go back! LOVED IT!

It was a real honour to be able to stay in this historic chateaux. There is a lovely relaxed family feel and we were made most welcome by the very friendly host Remy who spoke excellent English with a charming 'Allo, Allo' accent! We felt like family guests at a dinner party with interesting company (other guests) and were treated to aperitifs a three course dinner, wine and Calvados. The family girls were charming waitresses. The swimming pool was a lovely surprise on a hot day. Don't expect modern facilities however the whole experience was charming.
