Marguerite welcomes with tea and cakes; within minutes, you’re part of her family. Large bedrooms in the converted barn of her 19th-century farmhouse are furnished with antiques from her grandfather’s château; elegant armoires, beds and tables. Colourful quilts cover the beds, bright rugs are laid on tiled or parquet floors, original paintings hang on the walls. Windows look to woods – beckoning for walks – or the walled garden. Breakfasts, dinners, too, are served in a beautiful, spacious barn on sunny days (with a kitchen for rustling up lunches), and in the farmhouse kitchen on cooler days. Wonderfully, traditionally French.
