The
Experience

An ancient peace lingers over the fan-shaped cobbled courtyard, the old well, the little chapel: the Manoir oozes history. Your doctor host, a talented gardener, and his charming wife, much-travelled antique-hunters with imagination and flair, offer guests warm generous bedrooms (including a superb family room) hung with well-chosen oriental pieces and paintings in good strong colours that reflect the garden light. Most wonderful of all are the specimen tree’d gardens, their great grassy carpets embracing a small lake. You share a big sitting room with your lovely hosts, lots of plants and a suit of armour.

Reviews

We stayed in a large downstairs room with lovely roll top bath in ensuite. Our dog was made welcome with access to garden from French windows. Breakfast was beautifully laid out with such attention to detail. I would happily return.

This is a real family home and not a mini hotel. We were made to feel extremely welcome. The very comfortable bed, the wonderfully peaceful atmosphere and the delicious breakfast meant that we left le Bois de Grez feeling very happy and relaxed. For garden lovers this is a must ...... one of the most interesting gardens I have seen in a long time, with lots of unusual plants but nothing too extreme ! An excellent address.

It was our second stay this summer au Manor du Bois de Grez. We loved the fabulous family room upstairs and the breakfast was just excellent and beautifully presented by Marie Laure the wonderful hostess. Highly recommend and will be booking again for next year again as this is clearly our favourite place to stay near Angers.

Lovely house, generous rooms, gorgeous gardens, but what really makes this a fantastic place to stay is the incredible warmth and friendliness of Mme Cesbron. Thank you!

Joanne

All your comments on this beautiful place and its delightful owners are true. For our party of six, our three-day visit will remain an unforgettable memory. Our only regret: is that the Cesbrons family are hundreds of miles away and not our next-door neighbours.

Local points of interest from Marie Laure & Jean Gaël Cesbron

  • Our manor, tipical of this area, has very old origins, beginning XIIe, with an old chapel, square court, well, fish-pond, a very quiet place with a real atmosphere just near Grez Neuville crossed by river Mayenne and riverboats
  • Our house is surrounded with 30 hectares of garden, orchard, fields. You will like to go out for a walk in our garden where you will see a lot of different trees, shrubs and a lot of flowers. For it, we belong to an association of Guest and Garden.
  • Only 15 minutes from Angers to reach our house Angers is the capital of Anjou, beautiful town with its impressive 17 towered fortress and the famous apocalypse tapestry XIVe. You will love to discover that very charming town crossed by the Maine river.
  • First european green town, Angers has the first botanical theme park : Terra Botanica at only 10 minutes from Manoir du Bois de Grez.
  • you like to bike along rivers. Discover the "Velo Francette" which is well suited to families, following the riverside towpath in a lovely natural setting. At Bois de Grez, you will have a special and safe place for your bicycles.
  • At one hour from our house, there is the famous "24 heures du Mans" and "le Mans classic".
