The
Experience

It’s not often you can pretend to be medieval royalty but ascending the fabulous spiral staircase to your turret bedroom presents the ideal opportunity! Overlooking glorious Loire countryside, this petite château dates back to the fifteenth-century. Panelled-walls, a moat and parquet floors create historical atmosphere but charming owners, Jean-Christophe and Raymond-Pierre, have ensured that modern comfort co-exists. Antique beds are dressed in fine linen; cosy leather armchairs surround the fireplace and there’s a pool shaded by ancient walls. Breakfast like a king on pastries, milk from the local Jersey herd and honey from the château’s hives.

Reviews

delightful chateau in a quiet isolated rural setting. difficult to find unless you use coordinates provided on their website in your SATNAV. Very pleasant hosts. excellent breakfast with fresh orange juice and home made jams. bed quite comfortable and room with views over the grounds. might be tricky if disabled or partially so, as bedrooms are up a circular stone staircase. we would be likely to stay again.

The Chateau is indeed as advertised; a beautiful place very well appointed, graceful and atmospheric. The rooms are lovely, clean, comfortable, with discrete modern essentials. Your hosts are charming, helpful and friendly. The breakfast is elegently served and sets you up for the morning. Lovely tranquil setting, pleasnt grounds; you are right on doorstep of the Loire valley, with all it's delights. There are no negatives here, other than that we had to go home!

The chateau was wonderful. Jean Christophe and Raymond Pierre were excellent hosts and made us feel extremely welcome and at home. The chateau was set well back from the road and in private gardens. Right from the start we were encouraged to explore and enjoy everything on offer. We slept wonderfully well and the next morning we were served a breakfast that was both delicious and memorable with silver cutlery and beautifully set table. All products were organic and produced either at the chateau or locally. The honey was quite simply the best I've ever tasted. Would recommend highly.

"The welcome champagne by the pool was the first of many little special surprises of our stay. Jean-Christophe and Raymond-Pierre are the perfect hosts. Their lovingly restored castle is spotlessly clean and neatly adorned, obviously a labour of love. The homemade jams, honey from the castle, cheese, yoghurt and eggs from the neighbouring farm all combined to make this a truly authentic stay in the French country-side with some Parisian class. We could not recommend Chateau de La Frogerie more highly and would definitely return when next in France."
