The
Experience

A modern-traditional hillside house with owners who go above and beyond for their guests; literally, a breath of fresh air. Once you’ve trekked and climbed all you can, come home to cosy pine-clad bedrooms with plump duvets and soft lighting – in the main house or in the chalet. The intricate, sloping garden glows with flowers, trees, vegetables, birds, little winding pathways and views to die for; sip wine on the terrace, flip open a book. Henri and Janine, both incredibly kind and generous, share their homely open-plan living area with you. An immaculate, pampering, very beautiful place – and Henri designed the house.

Reviews

A very warm welcome in a spectacular location : Janine and Henri were extremely kind, suggested the best walks (and lent maps!), provided prodigious breakfasts and were excellent company. Janine cooks beautifully, the house was spotless and the bedroom was very comfortable indeed. We have just spent a delightful few days at Chateau Bernard. Janine and Henri - thank you.

Janine and Henri were such gracious and generous hosts - they really overwhelmed us with their kindness and warmth. Their garden and pool were a delight and the breakfasts amazing. A wonderful stay.

What wonderful hosts! They made us feel like old friends. The house is in a spectacular situation and there was nothing to fault about the room and my wife is quite fussy! The food was extraordinarily good - was croissant, pain au chocolate, bread, cakes, Irish Scones and huge choice of preserves and EVERYTHiNG was home made and fresh from the oven. Also offered eggs and ham, baked custard, yogurts, fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice etc etc.. I could not recommend highly enough. Fantastic!! Thank you so much Janine and Henri.
