Château les Oliviers de Salettes

Down the tree-lined avenue to elegant bedrooms with soul-lifting views - and marvellous meals on the terrace or in the cosy vaulted cellar

23 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 – 4

After three years of renovations and meticulous attention to detail from gentle owners Robin and Dominique, the hotel runs like clockwork. The building that exists today, a three-storey house of impressive proportions with a turret at each end, was part of a much larger château, the centre of a vast vineyard. Now it lords it over five hectares of finely landscaped parkland, with dining terraces, boules pitch and infinity pool, and panoramas that reach to the Alps. Honeymooners, families, the lazy and the lively: all will love it here. Apart from cookery lessons, wine tastings and electric-bike rentals, there’s tree climbing and paragliding, canoeing and windsurfing, riding and golf. And a sweet spa to recover in: how about a bamboo massage? Uncluttered bedrooms are full of lofty splendour and furnished in classic French style, their stone walls and great beams intact; bathrooms (one in the dovecote) are state of the art. But dinner is the highlight of the stay: beautiful food from beautiful produce accompanied by heavenly views. The ‘menu du midi’ is great value.
