The
Experience

In a hamlet of stone houses, electronic gates glide open to an immaculate farmhouse owned by Catherine and Michel. In the barn are four bedrooms with forest views, two up and two down (with private terraces), all linked by a steep spiral stair. They’re big and stylish, with monsoon showers tucked behind half-height walls. Breakfast tables are laid with homemade breads and artisan jams, supper is good too, and the decked terrace is for all to share – you’ll even find an infrared Japanese sauna. In this deeply rural setting you have bikes to borrow (mountain or electric) and a station 4km away – set off for Paris and Versailles!

Reviews

We stayed at La Grange for two nights on our way back to the UK. We wanted to go to Versailles and Monet’s house and garden at Giverny and the Rambouillet area was conveniently located for both. We had a wonderful stay at La Grange, the accommodation was excellent with a really good room layout and very comfortable bed. Catherine was extremely helpful in advising how to travel to Versailles (we used the train from Rambouillet) and also pointed out a number of interesting places nearby. I highly recommend La Grange and will be back as there is a lot to see in the local area.

We arrived at 5pm, and were welcomed by the friendly owners, who took us to our self-contained, downstairs suite. Everything we needed for a delightful, and restful vist was there. The ensuite bedroom, with views over the pretty garden, was very comfortable and attractive. The open-plan living area was pretty too, and light came in from everywhere. The owners, whose house was just across the garden, brought over to us a delicious evening meal and breakfast. The whole experience was relaxing and refreshing, and in a very quiet country location.

What a wonderful place to stay on trip south to Spain! The warmest welcome greeted us by Mme Sergent and delightful Labrador. Immaculate well appointed and warm room with tasteful furnishings and really comfortable bed with beautifully laundered linen greeted us. We were very comfortable. Bathroom and shower was top class. Mme was charming could not do enough to make us welcome on a cold March evening. She made available la 'Pic nic' which included vegetable soup, delicious local cheese, pate and wine. This beautiful forested area is part of the Royal hunting grounds of Versailles. Superb.
