Paris is 20 minutes by train, Versailles 15 by motorway. Here, behind wrought-iron gates in an elegant suburb, the French mansion sits in an exuberant town garden of pergolas, box bushes and mature trees. Your kind, attentive hosts – she an ex-English teacher, he with a passion for Sully-Prudhomme – may give you the poet/philosopher’s two-room first-floor suite; he lived here in 1902. Polished floorboards, pretty prints, choice antiques, all dance to the 19th-century theme. Breakfast unveils gorgeous porcelain. Outstanding.

We stayed some days in this lovely b&b. Owners Christine and Eric were very friendly and put in all their effort to make our stay as comfortly as possible ! The location is perfect for exploring Paris and surroundings. We visited from here chateau Vaux le Vicomte and Versailles, as well as the Monet garden in Giverny. We had a wonderful time here and wish that many other travellers will experience their hospitality.

We found this delightful place through Sawdays. Lovely in every way.

Such an interesting and lovely house, close to Paris and all its delights, with sumptuous and comfortable beds to sink into after a hard day's sightseeing or, in our case, Parc Asterix, and a delicious breakfast the following morning, we were hard pushed to leave the warm welcome afforded by the Duprez family.

We can highly recommend this home. We stayed in the beautifully furnished 'Sully Prudhomme suite' with its own sitting/breakfast room, overlooking the lovely garden and with fascinating documents about the Nobel prize winning poet who lived here. Christine and Eric, our hosts were very helpful and interesting to talk to. They served a delicious breakfast - the best croissants and fabulous local bread. The location of this house is great - we visited Paris, travelling from Robinson metro station, 10 mins walk away, Versailles, and the local chateau and lovely gardens at Sceaux, 5 mins away.

Le Clos de Princes is a beautiful house with real history, a walled garden in a great location with easy acess to Paris city, Versailles and other local attractions, close to major motorways. A warm and friendly welcome from the caring and attentive owners - Christine and Eric who are dedicated to being hospitable and helping you to enjoy your stay with them. If the weather is kind, eating a delicious breakfast in the attractive walled garden is an extremely enjoyable experience. We first stayed in 2009 and were so enamoured that we have returned each year since.

Local points of interest from Christine & Éric Duprez

  • After a good night in a poet's house, just visit another very famous writer's house: Chateaubriand's former house which has become a very intimate museum in La Vallée aux Loups, the most visited place in Hauts de Seine, 20 mn by foot from here!
  • Always in La Vallée aux Loups, just opposite Chateaubriand's house, stroll in the arboretum, and sit under the shade of outstanding trees, among which a remarkable cedar tree whose branches develop horizontally and must be propped up!
  • 5 mn away by foot, you enter the Park and Chateau of Sceaux, a great place for pedestrians and joggers. The formal garden has just been restored to celebrate Le Nôtre (who laid out the park of Versailles). The Chateau is the museum of the parisian region.
  • Visit also the bonsai greenhouse in the arboretum (free entrance)!
