Rooms sleep 2 – 4

What’s especially nice about this 17th-century farmhouse is that it hasn’t been over-prettified. Instead, it has the friendly, informal elegance of a house that’s lived in and loved; grey-painted beams, soft stone walls, seductive bathrooms. The Lorenzes loved it the moment they saw it; it reminded gentle Stéphan of the house he grew up in. Bustling Martine starts your day with a terrific breakfast, Stéphan shows you the walks from the door. The gardens, sweet with roses, oleanders and lavender, are shaded by ancient trees and the pool and views are glorious. Stay for as long as you can; book excellent dinners in advance.

Really delightful, peaceful, comfortable, characterful place. Not plush, quirky, good fun. Large, pretty garden. Walks in the surrounding vineyard, up & down the canal, super countryside, beaume de venise up the road, Carpentras market. 3 of us, 3 days, near perfect. Owners away, individualistic housekeeper made very effort. Just the ticket.

Provence is still lingering in my mind after our return to the States, largely because of our stay at the lovely, charming, comfortable and conveniently located Le Mas de la Pierre du Coq. I had a great feeling about the place before arriving, as the hosts had prompt, friendly and helpful communication via email. Staying there surpassed my expectations - the house and grounds are all that a memorable Provencal vacation requires. Lovely gardens, beautiful but comfortable interiors, large and sparkling clean pool, fabulous location for daily site seeing; we couldn't have been more pleased!
