The Experience

Georgia has created a manicured paradise of trees and blooms: hydrangeas and lavender fields, 250 varieties of rose, swaying oaks, cypress and olive. Fresh-cut flowers dot the four en suite bedrooms and sitting rooms, each one with an outside terrace with loungers for taking in the fresh air and the views.

Help yourself to books and fridge space in the summer kitchen and guest living room, veggies and fruit from the garden, a bike to explore the neighbourhood. There’s a fenced swimming pool, a stone maze and pétanque. Book a cookery course, or Pilates retreat.

Breakfast is eaten together: pastries and seasonal fruits, sometimes omelettes. Your host has a knack for matching guests to local restaurants and she’ll book tables for you too – La Camarette at the local wine domaine is a favourite. Many sights are easily driveable – the Luberon villages, Mont Ventoux, canoeing on the Sorgue river.

Accommodation

Reviews

The garden is a huge attraction at Le Lavandin. It's vast and varied: two lavender fields, beds of roses, flowering shrubs, olive and fruit trees. Chairs and sun loungers are hidden in secluded corners and the only sound you'll hear are nature and the trickle of water in the ponds. Rooms are exceedingly comfortable; first floor ones have wide views from a veranda. Georgia is a delightful, attentive owner.

Location

The neighbourhood

Surrounding the B&B are lots of small farms – polytunnels sheening as they shield a cornucopia of Provençal veg from the harsh sun. Once you enter Le Lavandin you’d never know you were surrounded by agriculture: it’s a different world, tucked at the top of a long driveway and shielded by dense greenery. Georgia’s garden is a triumph. The nearest towns are Pernes-les-Fontaines and L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, both around 10 minutes by car or you can walk there along the Canal de Carpentras towpath in 45 minutes. Both towns are lovely and have antique shops, restaurants and markets.

Introducing

Georgia Perrin

Georgia Perrin left Utah for Provence in 2003 – to be closer to her Grenoble-living daughter, but also to fulfil a dream to step outside her comfort zone. At Le Lavandin she gutted the former wood workshop, added a new floor, and turned it into a guest house. She lives about 50 metres away in a separate house, but between Georgia and Rashida the housekeeper, you’ll be very well looked after.
