Snug amid two hectares of Mediterranean gardens, wrapped in jasmine, wisteria and roses, this cottage could come straight from a story book. It feels private, yet your generous hosts invite you for a Provençal meal on your first night. Lap up the mountain views, explore the woods, pick herbs from Regina’s organic garden. You enter the cottage through French windows to find a white, light and bright space with pale walls and blue hues: a lovely bedroom and a separate living area with rocking chairs, white quilts, muslin at windows, views to garden and forest… it’s enchanting. Another pretty room acts as bedroom or study and the third bedroom can be set up as a twin or double; the shower room is classy and big. The bright, airy kitchen has doors opening east and south onto those beautiful grounds – eating outside is a joy – and the pool area – for your private use. Your hosts, a delightful, cultured German pair who speak excellent English, will bend over backwards to make your stay special. Walk from the grounds to alpine foothills – great for gliding or golf – or spin off on a bike. You’re a short drive to good restaurants and an hour to superb beaches – wonderful.
