Wonderful to roll up the track, olive and pine trees all around, to this beautifully renovated old pale stone, blue-shuttered house and to know that it’s yours for a week or two. There’s plenty of space to relax outside in the terraced gardens, or by the pool, under the wisteria-covered pergola or on the paved terrace with its hill country views to Seillans village – magical when lit-up at night. Inside is delightful too: cosy and light with whitewashed walls, original beams and ceramic tiles. Pleasing touches everywhere: carved niches, antiques and brocante finds, and contemporary splashes. The living space has a good, characterful kitchen, wooden cabinets, a wood-burning stove; well-filled bookshelves and dressers line the walls around the dining table and through an archway is a snug sitting room. On the first floor are two rustic smart bedrooms; on up a narrow spiral stair is the low-slung attic room. And a new fourth bedroom in the annexe has a large door onto its own little garden patio. All the bathrooms are elegant and bright. Provence to explore, vineyards and village restaurants to visit – how lovely.
