You just know you’ve arrived somewhere special when you roll down the drive flanked by plane trees to this gorgeous old stone house. Its restoration by owner Joan, who’s on hand should you need anything, is a triumph. With meticulous attention to detail she’s kept all the best bits: ancient beams, exposed stonewalls, terracotta tiled floors and added antique furniture, art and all the mod cons you’ll need: under floor heating, WiFi, Sky TV. Glide up the curved staircase to three large, light bedrooms each with sloping ceilings and south-facing garden views. You’ll sleep deeply on excellent quality beds with lovely linen; and the smart en suite shower rooms are piled high with fluffy Ralph Lauren towels. You’re within walking distance of the village of Reillanne, which has a great Sunday morning market; the larger town of Cereste isn’t much further. Once you’ve stocked up on supplies, Joan leaves you plenty of basics, you can whip up feasts in the handy kitchen and eat alfresco – the gardens are a dream with views gently descending to the long pool and boules area with stunning vistas of the Grand Luberon valley beyond.

We spent the second half of our honeymoon at Joan's wonderful Provencal hideaway and it was bliss. The house itself is immaculate, characterful, spacious and incredibly well equipped. The location is utter paradise.....tranquil with only the sounds of birds and nature to let you know you're not completely alone! The gardens and pool are THE best place to spend a relaxing day. Cereste and Apt are close enough to get supplies without much of a journey. Wholeheartedly recommended.

A beautifully restored provencal house in a great location for exploring the Luberon. Reillanne has an excellent market and is within walking distance. There are plenty options for cycling nearby and water sports in the Gorges du Verdon. Joan is the perfect host and was able to help us make the very most of our time there. Best of all after a day of exploring we could return to the peaceful and lovingly maintained gardens for a game of Boules or a splash in the exceptional pool. Bliss!

Montjelade is a very special place and has great charm. We have just spent a delightful week, enjoying being in the spacious house which has been so lovingly restored with great attention to detail. The grounds and gardens are full of beautiful planting and with the pool all combine to create a wonderful place to relax. A very special place indeed.
