The approach to Bois Bourdet is along quiet country lanes surrounded by fields; then you enter a small gate to find friendly chickens heading your way to see what’s going on. There’s a lovely feeling to this old-new place: the beautifully renovated farmhouse where the young family run B&B; the front grounds well-kept and spacious; the rear grounds full of hidden treasures (vegetable gardens, orchard, play areas, pool); and the two renovated barns, La Petite Maison and La Bergerie. The gazebo is an idyllic spot to sit with an early evening aperitif, the pool is fenced for safety and surrounded by greenery, and you can help yourself to the garden’s bounty whenever you like. La Bergerie (the old sheep pen) is open plan, ideal for a family and steeped in character, with beautiful stone walls, high ceilings, oak rafters, scarlet sofas, a wood-burner: a charming contemporary décor. La Petite Maison, for a couple with a small child, is fresh, modern, adorable. Kitchens are wonderfully equipped, there are barbecues on terraces, and if you fancy a night off, join the B&B-ers: Monsieur is a marvellous chef.
