The
Experience

A handsome townhouse in the heart of the historic town with an understated, calm interior. Find period details, deep skirtings, fireplaces, cornices and a light-flooded stone staircase with iron balustrading. Three lovely lofty bedrooms are decorated in classic French style with a mix of antiques and prettily dressed beds. Catherine and Eric give you homemade breakfasts of fresh fruit salad, cakes, yogurts and jams at one big table; in summer you spill onto the terrace. Beaches and seafood beckon and the port of Rochefort (that lies within the charmed triangle of La Rochelle, Saintes and Royan) is fascinating.

Reviews

We had a very happy time at Palmier au Cours, so much so that we stayed for an extra night. It's a rather grand and lofty town house, decorated in the style of the 17th century althoiugh not built till the 1850s. Catherine and Eric have only owned it for six months. They are a charming couple and made us very welcome, which was helped by their excellent English. Catherine makes a sumptuous breakfast with home made fruit salads, jams and yoghourt. The room was very comfortable with an enormous bed and there is a very pretty garden. We really liked Catherine and Eric and hope to return.

We had a really enjoyable stay at Palmier Sur Cour. Helene and Jean- Pierre are charming hosts who made us feel very welcome and indulged us by speaking English and translating with other French guests! The house is beautiful and very comfortable. Helene provides great coffee, home made yogurt and other delicious treats for breakfast. The town and surrounding area is very interesting with a wide range of different places to visit. There are also some good local restaurants. We would definitely recommend this lovely holiday home and are looking forward to returning!

Wonderful house and very helpful hosts who couldn't have been more helpful. Superb location with easy parking. Courtyard garden was a delight on a hot humid evening
