The
Experience
Between the fruit trees a hammock sways, breakfast is served next to a sparkling pool and sculpted chickens peck. Tucked behind gates (child-safe) in the heart of a busy village is a maison de maître of elegance and charm. Your hosts (she half Belgian, he from Yorkshire) have a wicked sense of humour and have created a luxurious and eclectic décor – gazelle antlers, pebbled showers, delicious French linen – for suites with private terraces. Table tennis, croquet, bicycles, toys, jasmine and, everywhere, that spirit-lifting light that you find on this cherished stretch of coastline.

My friend and I had a lovely two nights at La Grande Barbotiere. The room was marvellously comfortable and Jacqui and Christopher told us of all the interesting sights in the area and evben booked us into a splendid restaurant for a delicious supper. The visit could not have been more delightful and welcoming. We are certainly going to recommend La Grande Barbotiere to all our friends.

We had a lovely week here in the summer. Jacqui is very welcoming and gave us lots of good tips about local restaurants and places to visit, all of which were spot on. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean. The pool, hammock and table tennis table were only a few steps away from our door. Jacqui prepares a delicious breakfast of fresh local bread, jams, pastries, yoghurts and fruit (some from her garden). The grounds are lovely and a great safe place for children to explore. Not only is it a charming place to stay with great hosts, it is also great value for money.

We had the most superb 3 night stay. The accommodation was beautiful and also perfectly arranged for our young family of four. We had lovely evenings sat outside chatting whilst the children slept. The owners were wonderful, so welcoming and kind. The breakfast was amazing - we didn't need lunch! Advice on where to eat and visit was fantastic. We would highly recommend it and will definitely visit again.

Introducing
Christopher & Jacqui McLean May
Christopher and Jacqui are seasoned hosts, first running B&Bs in the Borders of Scotland before moving to France. Christopher, who is from Yorkshire, is the maintenance man on site; Jacqui, who is half Belgian, is responsible for the interior design of the studios.
We enjoyed a lovely week here in September and really appreciated the accommodation, breakfasts, beautiful garden and pool. This place just has a lovely atmosphere. Jacqui and Christopher are very warm, friendly and informative, and will provide all the information you need for visiting towns/sights in the area. An unexpected plus was that our latent passion for table tennis was reignited!
