Souvenir is the word; zinc watering cans, antique jugs, glass bonbonnes… From the front door onwards, ancient and modern are beautifully mixed on a subtle seaside theme and the overall effect is of space and light, taste and comfort. Three sitting areas – the generous open-plan living room in laid-back 70s style, the classically cosy, wood-paneled snug and the indoor-outdoor conservatory – mean there’s space for everyone. The marble-topped kitchen area has the same sense of space and all the mod cons. Upstairs, as well as five bedrooms that again display that flair for surprising and pleasing the visitor, there’s a fantastic games room where people can play table tennis or table football, get stuck into the doll’s house or choose a book to take to the snug or the sunny garden. Outside, you can play badminton, boules or croquet, then enjoy a swim round and round the heated above-ground pool. The nearby beaches are fabulous, Mont Saint Michel makes a perfect day’s outing, you can horse ride along the strand or go whelk hunting,… the charming owners are full of ideas.
