Bergerie de la Moutonnière

My wife and I stayed with Ruud and Hetty in September last year. They are both charming and nothing was too much trouble. We saw a lot of Ruud especially when he brought us breakfast which was delicious.It came with fruit, croissants, coffee, etc etc . He's seen a lot of life and has a great sense of humour. They also have a robotic electric mower who is earnest in his work and goes about it quietly and is no trouble to anyone. He is not a linguist! PS The location is stunning!

We stayed at Bergerie de la Moutonniere for 3 nights. It is a delightful, peaceful and unique find. It is a lovely spot to explore this tranquil part of Normandy and the coastal towns. Try Hetty's ice cream with home made prunes in Armagnac, amazing!

An absolutely delightful stay! Hetty and Ruud are the consummate hosts; helpful with their suggestions but not intrusive. We had the whole property to ourselves and the atmosphere of la Bergerie is total bliss. What could be better than waking up to a cacophony of bird song and some of Ruud and Hetty's delicious apple juice? We self catered and loved the outdoor kitchen and one evening used the barbecue. A heavenly place to stay with lots to do in the region - highly recommended!

A wonderful place to spend an autumn week - a tranquil haven in beautiful grounds with generous, amiable hosts Hetty and Ruud. Unique accommodation with every comfort; the wood-burning stove particularly welcome for the chillier evenings. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts, and we hope to return in the better weather.

We stayed with Hetty & Ruud twice in last year. Once mid December 2021 and the other in August 2022. Superb hosts from welcome to departure, as well as when booking. Food super and delivered to the room. Huge garden/land for dogs to exercise. Very comfy and well furnished rooms. We will stay there again and have recommended to others.

This was our final stop before heading home and what a magical way to end our holiday. Hetty and Ruud were wonderful hosts and the Bergerie is just delightful - comfortable and full of thoughtful touches for a very special stay. I can’t recommend it more and hope to be able to come back again.

Excellent. Two lovely hosts - Hetty and Ruud - with a real commitment to making your stay with them something to remember. Ruud with his unique humour is an honorary englishman!! We were made to feel special and we will not hesitate to return and to recommend it even to our enemies....!!!!

This is a very special place! A true sanctuary set in peaceful grounds. The hosts couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. My cat enjoyed her stay here too and the breakfast was delicious and delivered to my room. I will definitely be making a return visit.

Well, the reviews speak for themselves! A truly special place to stay and well worth a visit if you're in the area, or make a visit if you're not! Ruud and Hetty are lovely hosts and couldn't make you feel more welcome (our dog is still pining after Hugo!). It's a great spot to relax and unwind but also to explore surrounding areas if you want to. The rooms are beautifully decorated and all in all, we couldn't have had a nicer stay. What a gorgeous place, run by a gorgeous couple. This was our first stop on our French road trip and we left feeling utterly relaxed. Amazing accommodation with unique and refined attention to detail. The breakfasts were served al fresco and were divine. Yum! Hetty and Ruud and Hugo (their adorable dog) made our daughter and dog feel so welcome. If you’re in the area it’s an absolute must. We loved every minute. Great hosts (.... great stories from Ruud!)

We were bedazzled by the atmosphere of the place and by all the careful and delicate attentions of our hosts. Refined materials, a strong sense of hospitality (from offering an outdoor alcove to have breakfast under to our dinner brought to us, outside, in front of a woodfire). The calm, the nearby forest’s noises, the starry night visible from our bed (with the top section of the stable door open). An extraordinary and romantic place for nature lovers. A warm thank you to Hetty and her fun and charming husband. A place we would love to come back.

A fabulous place to stay. Warmly welcomed by Hetty; our room had everything from a comfy bed to an espresso coffee machine ;breakfast was peaceful ' a deux' as well as delicious and the setting was unique! I would highly recommend this B and B. A shame we only had one night here!

We had a fantastic stay at the Bergerie last summer. The accommodation is wonderfully appointed and it is situated in a lovely, peaceful rural location. Hetty and her husband Ruud were excellent hosts. They were happy for our toddler and dog to roam around their beautiful garden and even entertained them both, giving us a few precious moments to ourselves. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. We will definitely return when we are next in Normandy. Thank you for making us feel so at home.

Our only regret was having to leave. Set in extensive grounds it comprises of a bedroom/suite with vaulted ceiling, dining table and sofa. A good size shower room. The cooking/dining area is open on one side providing views of large grounds. In very good condition the Bergerie reflects the good taste of the owners. Hetty & Ruud are superb hosts. Recommend breakfast, most of which is produced on the property. We loved returning to the peace & tranquility of the Bergerie after a day out. It is dog friendly. We recommend you stay here as a base when visiting Normandy. We will be returning.

Like New York, so good we went there twice. On the way down and on the way back. 5 star accommodation. Very dog friendly. The setting/gardens are lovely, birds, dawn chorus, but tranquil and quiet, Delightful caring hosts. Make sure you book an evening meal as Hetty is a superb cook.

This place is amazing, the calm tranquility of the location, the kind welcoming charm of Hetty and Ruud, the quality of the furnishinga and the attention to detail of ... Well ... Of everything really. We stayed for two delightfully restfull days and made sure we reserved another week later in the year. In a nutshell fantastic!

A truly magical place with wonderful hospitality. This is our second visit and can't wait for the next. Hettie and Rud are the perfect host and hostess to make for a wonderful stay. Cannot recommend highly enough

I have visited twice now - and this is a slice of heaven: utterly peaceful and magical - all made possible by the two most delightful hosts, Hetty and Rud. It is a place built with love, and I feel restored when I have stayed. I shall keep coming back, come wind or shine. Every detail is thought of, and to breakfast in one's outside dining room is simply a joy. I can recommend Hetty's cooking in the evening - especially the "French chicken" - otherwise known as duck - but it fools perhaps picky children! I know, if you come and stay here, you will want to come back - as I shall!

Delightful spot in the green heart of Normandy that dissolves the stresses of life and puts a contented smile on your face. Hosts Ruud and Hetty complete the experience with their kind and thoughtful efforts … pass me a croissant :-)

Wonderful setting, such a warm host and delicious breakfasts. Hetty was an absolute star (Rudolph, we sadly didn't meet as he was not around at the time) and we loved her lovingly restored bergerie so much we are returning again this year and staying longer. The large grounds are beautiful and we hope for better weather this year so we can enjoy them more. Hetty was also very accommodating of our small family and our two young girls slept soundly in the cot and bed upstairs while we enjoyed twilight with blankets and wine on the terrace. Faultless!
