The
Experience

Potter down the river in the pedalo: the gardens flank the bank of the Tarn. Five elegant acres surround the house, built around a courtyard in 1799. Madame occupies one wing, and the gites the other. Tranquillity reigns.

Inside the larger gite you have a kitchen, a dining area and a giant armoire for crockery; across the passage, a sitting room and a snug with TV. Bedrooms upstairs are delightful, each with a small salon. As one party you can link the gites together, and share the ‘bassin’ pool.

In Marssac are three restaurants in simple French style. Set off for the Friday market in delightful Gaillac, or the formidable cathedral of Albi; you are 20 minutes from both. Return to lovely languid gardens, super modern bathrooms, and suppers beneath starry skies.

Reviews

Ignore the suburb you went through to get here because once inside the estate's gates, you forget all of that. The property is vast and very private, right on the banks of the Tarn river. The gite faces a lovely garden with box hedges and full grown box trees. The accommodation has the "olde worlde" feeling to it. Perfect place for outdoor living and fun on the river.

Location

The neighbourhood

The property's chateau-like river setting is spectacular. There’s a terrace with a Weber BBQ (which serves as an oven for the gite), comfy loungers scattered near the bank, a maze, and boxwood trees offering plenty of shade. You can fish in the river, and find a pedalo and two paddle boats by the jetty. For small shops and restaurants, Marssac is a five-minute drive.

Introducing

Jacqueline Romanet

Madame Romanet and her English Bulldog welcome you. She and her husband bought the house in 1979, and raised three children here. Madame is a lovely person, and still happy to mow the entire park herself!
