The
Experience

Seekers of peace will be happy here in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by only hills and woods – heaven in ‘la France profonde’. The Pigeonnier sits on a hill across the courtyard from the main house but nonchalantly looks the other way. You enter on the middle level straight into the high-ceilinged, cream-walled sitting room, with a cosy wood-burner, comfortable armchairs, books and pictures (lots of family dogs!). The smaller, beautifully decorated bedroom is on this floor and a cool, pale, big bedroom lies upstairs: vibrant paintings, an elegant marble washbasin, great views. Downstairs: a light and bright dining room with glass doors to the patio and a kitchen good enough for committed foodies. You have your own terrace and lawn but the rest of the gardens – with their fountains, striking pool and covered terraces – are yours to roam. Markets abound, especially at Prayssac on Fridays; stock up on local meats, cheeses and pastries then work it all off on those hills, biking or hiking. Your delightful Californian hostess is on hand should you need her and kindly offers dinner on your first night.

Reviews

A truly wonderful place. Tip top quality and everything thought about and provided. Beautifully spacious accommodation with every need considered. Tastefully decorated entirely in keeping with a beautiful, elegant but comfortable French country house. The pool and garden are fabulous, as is the peaceful tranquillity. A great base for visiting all the local historical towns. Sally and Tim are wonderful hosts, incredibly kind, thoughtful and generous. Even though it was out first visit it was like meeting up with old friends. The best place we have stayed using the Sawdays website.

Sally and Tim are exquisite hosts! You will not be disappointed with the location or your accomodation. Also please note the pool is both enormous and heated! A joy! We have visited multiple times. Always a thrill to arrive and a sadness to leave

This luxurious guest home at Le Taupe in Couyssels France was absolutely amazing. The home is beautifully decorated and has everything a guest will desire . The hosts - Tim and Sally are now dear friends and it was the highlight of my European vacation to meet them and experience their luxurious country life in the South of France. From the hosts preparing a deliciously authentic French dinner served on their patio,to lounging poolside and walking through the country pastures of wild orchids I highly recommend Le Taupe Pigionnier to all - it will be the best place you've ever been !

Have enjoyed The Pigeonnier at La Taupe many times. It is the most luxurious, comfortable guesthouse you can experience in this beautiful part of France. Tim & Sally Blackburn are stellar hosts who have thought of every amenity. They offer the beautiful pool, gardens and acres of serenity. You must try their delicious cuisine. They can recommend great day trips, activities and adventures. Favorites: Morning walks at La Taupe; day trips to Roquecor and nearby Cahors; touring La Grazette Vineyard. The ambiance of La Taupe is a truly memorable experience!
