This turreted chateau, dressed in red stone, has been given new life and lavish interiors by the Busset family. It has a regal air – grand but not stuffy with chevron parquet floors, chalky heritage colours, heavy tapestries and huge romantic bedrooms. Bathrooms beckon with roll top baths, drenching showers and Murano glass chandeliers. Table d’hôte dinners will be a treat as Michelin-starred Hervé oversees the menu, although son Henri is usually your host. A plush guest salon is shared with grandmère Busset. There’s noise and bustle from the city outskirts but it’s well-placed for exploring Rodez’s medieval centre.
