The
Experience

No longer part of a defensive frontier of castles, this 15th-century manor and lake is a sanctuary swathed in lush forest. The domain is the pride and joy of Caroline, who runs it to the highest eco and ethical standards, and husband Luc. Artisan builders (still discreetly on site) have restored using natural materials and traditional craft. Your charming fruit loft, on two floors, has oval windows, oak fittings and a wood-burner; upstairs, drift off under organic linen. After breakfast in the old bakery, wander and enjoy, listen to the birdlife, bathe in the lake, hire canoes or bicycles… explore this enchanted kingdom!

Location

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Luc & Caroline Fontaine

  • A historic mansion dating back to the 15th century, with a new SPA and SAUNA, nestled in the heart of a hilly forest and unspoiled natuire.
  • Explore the 20km of marked paths in the château's forested grounds or take a rowing boat out on the lake! Otherwise, a piano awaits you indoors.
  • The ethical restoration of the place, with wood central heating, is respectful of its heritage.
  • The estate is adjacent to one of five unique botanic paths of the Brenne park, a paradise for birds and bird watchers.
  • In the heart of the triangle Poitiers-Limoges-Chateauroux, we're in a great position for visiting Brenne, the Cherine reserve, the Abbey of Saint-Savin or Veuvy-Saint-Sepulchre.
  • 3 hours from Paris and 20 minutes from the A20 in the Indre. 156 acres with a lake for swimming - a rare place nestled in the heart of the Brenne Park.
