The
Experience

Follow the brass shells in the cobbles to find Carole’s elegant stone town-house opposite the soaring Collégiale. Peace reigns, apart from the tolling of bells and the whistling of swallows. Inside, all is light and airy with tall windows looking out on village views or the little walled garden.Carole’s enthusiasm for Limousin is evident – walls are hung with local modern artworks, recipes researched from Limousin’s rich gastronomic past and home-cooked ingredients sourced from local farmers. Hand-made chocolates and massepain pillow-treats are from the local shops where you can get small gifts as guests of the B&B.There’s much to keep you in the village including guided historic tours, walks around the lake (which you can fish with a permit) and an amazing patisserie. Join walking paths through the woods 5 kilometres away or hop in the car to Limoges (half an hour) for museums.

Reviews

Booked for two nights, stayed for three and could easily have stayed longer. The town is interesting, the house is lovely, and knowledgeable and friendly Carole is an absolute star. Her cooking is great, and although she's not originally from the Limousin region she has really taken it to her heart, using local ingredients and recipes wherever possible. Breakfasts and evening meals are highly recommended. Can't wait for another visit!

Le Jardin des Lys was wonderful, better than expected largely due to the owner Carole’s enthusiasm, culinary skills and all round generosity. We ate dinner both nights and enjoyed fabulous authentic homemade meals using ingredients exclusively from Limousin. Even the complimentary chocolates and macaroons in the room were locally produced and the wine with dinner which was also delicious. Many thanks for a very enjoyable and welcoming stay.

A charming B&B with an equally charming host. Carole works extremely hard to ensure that her hospitality is top notch. Lovely food and wine, a beautiful room with a fine bathroom, little gifts of chocolate made us regret that we did not stay longer. Saint Léonard de Noblat is a fascinating place and worth exploring. Not far from Limoges, we will return!

Spent one night at Jardin des Lys. We had a lovely room overlooking the garden - it was huge, high ceilings and beautifully decorated. Modern bathroom with very nice fittings. Carol left a small box of chocolates and massepain in the room - such a nice touch. Breakfast was an international affair with guests from Spain, France and Holland (plus an Australian dog!). We rated it one of the nicest b&bs we’d visited. Hopefully we’ll return!

Location

The neighbourhood

Sleepy St Léonard de Noblat is set in the lush Limousin countryside. In the 12th Century the pad of passing pilgrims' feet on their route to St Jacques de Compostele prompted the building of the soaring romanesque Collégiale. Winding cobbled streets lead you through a jumble of half-timbered, russet tiled, stone turreted or roman arched buildings. The local shops all compete to treat you to a gourmet feast for eye and stomach – the cheese shop even ages its own cheeses and the "massepain" makers offer a course on cooking this local speciality.

Local points of interest from Carole Pagès

  • After 16 years in the south of France, I saw the announcement for this wonderful house on the internet. I came to visit and I did not go away again. And you? Will you be seduced?
  • Of medieval origin, this bourgeois mansion was completely restored in the 19th century. In the heart of old Saint Leonard, facing the beautiful Collegiate. An incredible mix of strength and peace.
  • The region is so beautiful and its treasures so generous that propose the table d'hôte from September to June. To not forget July-August, I propose you a discovery of our delicatessen and cheese specialties, the terroir DesLys. BBQ every wednesday evenings
  • You will not have enough of a week to see everything 30km away. Museums, exhibitions, hiking, fishing, cycling, golf, lake, cinema, for all ages, family, friends, there is something for everyone.
  • Come and discover our games room with American billiards, darts, board games, card games, table football, outdoor games for children.Relax in the library lounge. Also an exhibition gallery for artists from the region. A feast of the eyes just for you
  • All the products we offer are homemade or purchased from local producers. You discover and love the Limousin during your stay at home, this is the project that I propose for your next vacation. We are waiting for you!
