Rooms sleep 2

A fine old townhouse right in the heart of this bustling fishing port, famous for its seafood. Step straight in to a large hallway with a beautiful stone staircase and iron banisters, high limewashed walls hung with large oils of nymphs and shepherds, vibrant colours. Roberto, a charming Italian, and his French wife Peggy can organise wine tastings or visits to local markets and lend you bikes. Sleep well on thick mattresses with snowy linen (two rooms are big enough for a sofabed), wander the pretty garden with pool, take a book to the vast sitting room, eat hearty breakfasts (bacon, eggs, cheese) with freshly-baked bread on the terrace.

Casa Occitane was the perfect venue for our 2 nights before a local wedding. We stayed in the self contained apartment in the garden, which was just right for 3 of us. The apartment is extremely well designed and private. The pool refreshing after our travels and days out. Marseillan, although small, has a lot to offer, including trying out the drinks at the famous Noilly Prat near the Port. Roberto and Peggy are amazing hosts and have thought of every detail to make Casa Occitane a welcoming place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

we have just returned home from a truly memorable holiday at La Casa Occitane in Marseillan, Languedoc. We were celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary, so were looking for somewhere really special - and this was it! From the moment we arrived to our departure we were treated like long-lost friends and nothing was too much for Roberto and Peggy - they were the perfect hosts. We loved their charming converted winery house, their recommendations for places and restaurants to visit in the vicinity and are already planning our next visit.

La Casa occitane is a charming B&B and the host, Roberto Aiello is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. This old town house is situated in the middle of Marseillan, a few hundred yards from the port on the Bassin de Thau and restaurants offering plentiful fish and shellfish. The tastefully converted townhouse has a swimming pool and secluded sun terrace, spacious bedrooms and is close to all the facilities of this market town. Parking is on the street but is not a problem. An excellent base for visiting Sete, Agde, Beziers and the Languedoc region.

Roberto and Peggy were kindness itself, especially when we needed an extra night because of the air traffic controllers strike. A modern, stylish place to stay in a lovely old building, close by the bars, cafes and restaurants. We loved the region and Roberto's friendly and thoughtful manner. Normally, very handy for Beziers airport!

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Roberto Aiello

  • Marseillan is large enough to be a lively and vibrant town with a wide selection of excellent cafés, bars and restaurants, a buzzy street-market, and open-air events and festivals … but still small enough to be intimate, welcoming and fascinating.
  • We are proud of our heritage acclaimed port situated on the banks of the "étang de Thau". Eat oysters and mussels directly from the lake, drinking a glass of one of our local famous wines. Our restaurants are open all year around, some Michelin recommended
  • Take pleasure walking or cycling alongside the Canal du midi, enjoy swimming, sailing, kite-surfing or wake-boarding on the étang or along our beautiful beaches. Or perhaps escape for an afternoon to play golf in local Cap d'Agde, Béziers or Montpellier
  • From our many vibrant markets, take time to taste and select your preferred wine, choose from many local delicacies and within minutes you could find yourself enjoying a picnic amongst chateaux and vineyards
  • For a longer stay, why not visit the fascinating and historic local towns of Sète, Pézenas, Carcassonne and Montpellier with their markets, antiques, galleries and shops.
  • On the other hand, why not just take time out to relax in our year-round sunshine and enjoy your stay here with us at La Casa Occitane.
