This ancient domaine, its buildings of golden local stone hugging a central courtyard, exudes serenity and peace. You can opt for the grand old Auberge, the charming Farmhouse, or both – perfect for a gathering. Owners John and Janie, warm and generous, run the farm, but always find time to share their love and knowledge of the area, and their new French retreat. Spacious stylish living rooms are dominated by vast beams, terracotta-tiled floors and open fires. Upstairs are sunny bedrooms with beamed ceilings, white walls, wooden floors, splashes of colour; beauty abounds. While the auberge has six bathrooms (simple, spotless and en suite), the Farmhouse has one fabulous family bathroom with a walk-in shower. John revels in the local produce and, with a bit of notice, will cook you meals worthy of Elysium; the kitchens are proof of his zeal! (The Auberge has two dishwashers and a double-range cooker.) Outside, a turquoise pool shimmers in its walled garden, there are barbecues and a bread oven, 50 acres of arable land, oak woods and wildlife, and stunning views of the Pyrénées.
