A peaceful, watery getaway in the arc of a beautiful pebbly bay. Between the mountains and the sea, twenty dramatically winding kilometres of the D81 south of Calvi (or 40 via the less challenging route). This is a great, no frills, place to unwind; to swim, snorkel, windsurf, walk along the coast or into the mountains; play volley ball and table tennis. Each of the simply furnished, spotless rooms (no air-con) among the hillside trees and shrubs has its own outdoor table and chairs. In the relaxed sea front restaurant and courtyard areas, painted in pretty pastels, there’s a bar and a sitting room hung with guests’ paintings. Dorine makes breakfast jams, breads and pastries and, aided by their Moroccan cook, Corsican dishes (the octopus is particularly good) for all-comers, children’s portions no problem – there’s a campsite, with a small shop, next door. Galeria – 18k away – is the nearest village. This is a real, family-run, family friendly, traditionally Corsican summer set-up. Don’t go looking for style, do go for adventure, the lovely Mediterranean setting, the getting away from most of it and the food.
