Le Relais du Puits

Pressigny, Haute-Marne
Bed & Breakfast

At the crossroads of Champagne, Burgundy and Franche-Comté, a lovely couple welcome guests with eclectic rooms

3 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 – 3

Regular guests of Michel and Évelyne in their tiny medieval village in Champagne will find this charming couple in a ‘new’ 200-year-old home. Just three rooms now, all reflecting Évelyne’s quirky humour: snow-white “Romantic”, chic “Belle-Époque”, extravagant “Medieval” with a gothic, dark orange décor, daggers and tapestries. Bathrooms are gorgeous and the garden large. After 18 years your hosts know just what guests want, whether it’s free internet, a roaring fire in the sitting room, or bicycles for the surrounding forests and country lanes.

Our evening meal of Monsieur`s Quiche Lorraine and Cherry Tart was delicious, as was the wine. Breakfast in the morning was also good. We would return.

Can't recommend highly enough. Spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, nothing is too much trouble. Woke up to my birthday there yesterday morning, had a candle and cake from our lovely hosts. Homemade yoghurt, lovely breakfast - just a shame we didn't manage to have dinner. So well organised, garage great bonus, garden lovely - definitely highly recommend - amazing.

This is an exceptional place - everything was perfect, from the garage parking to the quirkily-decorated rooms and the elegant bathrooms. But the piece de resistance were the meals - M et Mme Poope perform a magical double act and the result was a wonderful dinner with locally-sourced venison (shot by the village butcher). Expecting the usual continental breakfast, we were greeted instead with an extensive array, plus Madame's special oeufs en cocotte. Can't recommend it highly enough. No wonder they have guests returning ever year!

This was our second stay at this 5 star B&B, in France and the best by far that we have stayed at. The hosts, room, dinner and breakfast were fantastic, certainly nothing left out to make our visit anything except amazing. Worth going a little out of our way to enjoy our last stopover of a great holiday. Will certainly go back again. To top it all the price charged was so very reasonable for the service received.

This is by far the best B&B we have ever stayed in in France. If you want 5 star accommodation and a superb supper and breakfast then this is the place to go to. We will certainly use this again and recommend it very highly.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Terrific host with wonderful food and unquestionable value for money! We only used this a one night stop over- but would not hesitate to stay here again.

3rd visit, new house even better than previous. Lovely bedroom with air-con, BBC tv, tea/coffee making facilities in guest kitchen. Comfortable bed, lovely spacious showerroom. Dinners marvellous value, taken outside on terrace in great weather. Breakfasts very generous, with delicious home-made yoghurt. Very helpful, friendly hosts

A warm and hugely friendly place. Michel & Evelyne are charming, chatty and interesting. Their cooking outstanding - served with excellent wine. Michel made a glorious dessert and Evelyne's boeuf bourguignon was an absolute treat. Extremely comfortable rooms. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

We had a lovely stay here and would recommend it - lovely room and fabulous bathroom. A lovely homecooked meal served beautifully. wished we could have stayed longer.
