The
Experience

The Nachbroun, kindly people, simply love mills. This one began life in the 13th century – property then of the Earl of Champagne – and its history entwines with village folklore. Your upstairs room – modern retro style with painted panelling, brocante prints and a big monochrome shower room – overlooks the mill pond: a treat for all seasons whether dizzying with dragonflies or mist-rising on a frosty morning. Breakfast is a grand spread of sweet and savoury; there’s a corner kitchen downstairs, a garden barbecue, and a decent restaurant you can easily walk to in attractive, historic and watery Soulaine-Dhuys.

Reviews

A truly lovely place - quiet, welcoming, full of character. Jean-Claude gave us a guided tour of the mill and our conversation continued into early evening over a bottle of wine. A word of warning - the restaurant in the village - La Venise Verte - changed hands before our arrival, having gone badly downhill. Jean-Claude was unsure if it had improved. As it was close by, we decided to give it a try and Jean-Claude came with his family. We were all seriously disappointed - slack service, poor cuisine, relatively high prices. Unfortunately, the nearest alternative is 20 minutes drive away.

I cannot recommend this place more highly. The rooms were beautifully done up. spacious and clean. Jean-Claude could not have been nicer, he was interesting and enthusiastic about his mill and took the time to show us around it. He even drove us to the local restaurant, as the one in the village was closed. He could not have been a better host. It was a wonderful first night in France and we would definitely come back to a very special house and village.

An excellent place to stay en route to Italy. Jean-Claud is a welcoming and engaging host who is proud to show you some of the history of his wonderful house. The old mill is full of character and situated in glorious rolling countryside. Breakfast was very good and the bed even better.

Clive, Winchester

House-/location totally mind- blowing ..the water from a natural Spring changed from deep blue to pale greenish yellow in12 hrs..wonderful living room, available to guests which houses original equipment for the water mill . Beautifully warm on a wet chilly evening. Host and Hostess totally charming and most informative about their obviously much-loved Mill .. Yummy petit déjeuner too! Will definately return l'année prochaine en route to the Luberon.
