The Experience

Madame is a collector of intriguing finds (including the Peugeot 203). Her two family-friendly garden-facing bedrooms make good use of compact space: one has the double bed on the mezzanine floor and children sleep below; the other, pretty in pale colours, sleeps three. The disabled access room is larger, also simply furnished, with a baldequin bed. You breakfast at one big table next to the kitchen. Do arrange a meal in the sheltered outdoor dining area, too; it’s fun and hung with agricultural bits and bobs, and the food will be good. All in a quiet village, in open country 18km south of medieval Troyes.

A great value, quirky stay - exactly what we were looking for on our drive through Champagne - good, tasty food too - thanks Christine

What a great find! Driving down to our home in the south we decided to spend a day exploring the area between Troyes and Dijon. This lovely chambre d’hôte was perfectly situated. The house and garden are quirky and delightful. Our room was lovely - a good size for 2. We arrived after a long drive and Madame told us of a couple of walks around the village which were exactly what we needed. Dinner was excellent. We’re vegetarians and every course was delicious, most using local ingredients. We’ll definitely stay here again - it’s equally good as an overnight stop as it’s close to the motorway.

We loved everything about L'Aube Bleu. Christine and her husband (apologies, I forget his name!) were welcoming and friendly, whilst discreetly leaving us to our drinks on arrival and then breakfast in the morning (wonderful and plentiful!). The house is comfortable, clean and full of the most amazing array of things, some of which are for sale. We will definitely stay if going that way again.

Rozzy, Brentford

what a lovely experience we had two evening meals which were beyond belief. we would highly recommend this venue for friendly atmosphere and for local places to visit we hope to stay again when next in France.

We have stayed here many times. Always a warm welcome , spotless room. Christine's food is always fantastic. Evening meals very very tasty. Breakfasts are amazing, with home made yogurts, jams , and the most beautiful freshly squeezed Orange juice. We look forward to our next stay next year. Thank you Christine. Bill and Ann Sisson

The L'Aube Bleue is a delight! Christine put us up for three nights with less than 12 hours notice and stayed up until we arrived the first night at 11.30pm - still with a welcoming smile! She provided a lovely, welcoming place to stay, wonderful breakfasts and treats and tons of information in either French or English about all the possibilities the area has to offer. If you are interested in historic Troyes itself there is loads to do but Christine will also help you to discover the countryside around with maps and walks. She is a wonderful host and her house is extraordinary. Need car!

Delightful! I stayed here on my way south and it made an ideal stopping place. The room was spotless and comfortable; the food was excellent and Christine our host was charming. The eclectic collections with which she has decorated her house mean you might easily lose anything you put down - you could spend hours just looking at everything and it is all such fun.

Wow! This is possibly the best Gite in France. Madam Degois fabulous home cooking and attention to every immaculate detail in her Gite is breathtaking. Worth a detour just to spend an evening there.

This is such a lovely bed and breakfast, the gardens are beautiful, the rooms are perfect and the host, Christine, is a wonderful cook and was very accommodating. The breakfast is the best I have eaten in all of France with the most incredible home made bread and jams. Our children woke up on Easter morning to find a trail of Easter eggs across the garden for them to hunt. We visit every year and there is much to do in the local area. I highly recommend it. Thank you Christine!

A candle-lit breakfast! The fruitiest home-made jams! A multi-course dinner! Energetic and warmly welcoming, Mme. Legois cooks originally and collects voraciously - horse harness, storm lanterns, cake baking moulds, dolls, an antique Peugeot. Endlessly fascinating and all spotlessly clean. Blue is her colour - indigo, azure, sea-blue, sky blue. A happy home to visit and re-visit.

Delightful, quirky accommodation with a comfortable bed with a clean, pleasant bathroom. We had a delicious dinner and breakfast. Christine is a delightful host and it's all incredibly good value.

Arrived late, welcomed with open arms, wonderful home cooked quiche and chocolate cake with Apple compot! Yum yum!!, room was lovely, and breakfast home made and yummy too, great garden, and collection of unusual items adorned the house and garden.

This is a gem of a place. It is delightfully furnished, the bedrooms are a treat and the garden is a relaxed haven. Mme Degois served a fabulous table d'hôte with many local delicacies and wines. It is about 20 mins to Troyes which is a medieval wonder of a town. All in all, I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Linda

What a great place, Christine is the best hostest. Chambre Indigo was bright, clean, and the bathroom was amazing. Lots of hot water. Supper was a delight, and breakfast, with home made bread and yoghurts was fantastic .Loved it so much we stopped on the way back on 19th August. Can't wait for next next year. One of the best ever, Thank you.
