Le Petit Village

Fulvy, Yonne

Two delightful cottages near the Burgundy Canal. Large gardens, shared pool and a toy-filled play barn in Burgundy

2 places

Sleeping from 4 – 6

Annabella and Nick love their home, their guests and life in France. Their 17th century hunting lodge with its large courtyard, coach house and cottage is on the outskirts of a sweet little village, and safely separated from the road by an old stone wall. The gîtes, both ground floor, are accessed by steps and tastefully decorated with comfy, spacious living areas and stylish open plan kitchens. The Coach House has oak beams, flagstone floors and the original open fireplace with a big private garden and fruit-filled orchard. Spring Cottage has a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings. Beautiful bedrooms have antique furniture, parquet or flagstone floors, colourful curtains and rugs, great mattresses; bathrooms are clean and modern. Children will love rummaging in the play barn full of toys, or splashing in the heated pool safely enclosed by hedges and little brimming flowerbeds. With vineyards and mediaeval villages close for outdoor family fun or romance, this place is enchanting.

What an absolute gem of a find. The cottage is cosy and quaint and the owners have spared no expense on the cottages. They have gone above and beyond to make our stay the best ever. Annabella is a lovely warm selfless lady who took 5 hours out her Sunday family time to take me to hospital when i fell ill. I challenge anyone to find a nicer couple and a nicer gite in France.

Really loved our time in The Coach House. This is a terrific place to bring a family group with a large private garden for barbecues, playing and relaxing as well as the swimming pool to enjoy. We particularly loved being close to the Canal de Bourgogne as the cycle paths enabled us to explore the local area so easily. The Ware family are excellent hosts with plenty of great local knowledge. Very happy to recommend this property.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Annabella Ware

  • We organise a daily fresh bread and pastries delivery to your cottage leaving a bag of delicious treats hanging on the door every morning. There's also a pot of pick-your-own herbs outside each cottage.
  • We are a short walk to the tranquil Canal de Bourgogne. Wonderful for cycling ( you can hire bikes nearby) and leisurely walks. The property house sits in the heart of the Armancon valley, and the river flows lazily opposite the house.
  • Every Sunday, you can head off to Chablis, only 30 minutes away for the fabulous weekly market. Fantastic local produce, delicious regional cheeses, and of course, the world famous wines. We can organise a wine tour for you with our genial expert.
  • All seasons are beautiful here, but one of the many pleasures of the Spring is the chorus of birdsong including the all-night performances of the nightingales. It is a very rural part of France, so it's great for wildlife and bird spotting.
  • The magnificently restored 16th century renaissance chateau of Ancy le Franc is only 5 minutes away. Children can dress up in 16th century costumes and in the summer there are enchanting candle lit night visits and a season of classical music concerts.
  • There are numerous world class attractions close by including the UNESCO Abbey de Fontenay, and two of the plus beaux villages de France, the medieval Noyers-sur-Serein and the exquisite Flavigny with its world famous aniseed balls.
