Jan’s Place

Ecuelles, Saône-et-Loire
Bed & Breakfast

Characterfully comfortable, peaceful rooms - a lovely garden, country meals, vinyl and books – beautiful Burgundy to explore

4 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 – 4

Sitting pretty, opposite the ancient church and right on the river – with its own jetty – Jan’s home is comfortably quirky, and spotless. In what was once the village inn you’ve a little warren of downstairs rooms with a huge collection of vinyl, loads of books, French, Dutch, Danish and English antiques; country breakfasts and dinners, served beautifully, in the kitchen or on one of the terraces. Peaceful bedrooms, up winding stairs, with gentle views; two cosy under the eaves – and bathrooms both properly modern and pleasingly retro. Take to the river, go cycling, explore Besançon and the vineyards of the Côte d’Or.

Beautiful location by a river and lovely spacious clean room. Jan is an excellent host and we felt very welcome. We had dinner at his place which was absolutely delicious, as he is a former chef. Would definitely recommend. :)

Just a 1-night stay for us as we were travelling North from Spain, but what a lovely welcome Jan gave us. We had a lovely room which was VERY clean, comfortable and well decorated and with lovely bathroom fittings. The terrace overlooking the River Soane is really nice and It's a great place to meet other guests. Dinner (which is best ordered when you book the room) was tasty and well cooked, and came with wine to your taste for only 20 Euros per person. All in all, a great experience that we'll repeat next time we're travelling that area.
