The Experience

The owners bought this 18th-century house from a family who had owned it for centuries, with the promise that they would renovate it to its former glory and elegance. While the original stonework has been uncovered wherever possible, underfloor heating and a wood burning stove have been added too – the perfect blend between authenticity and comfort.

Find a lovely inner courtyard dotted with olive trees and lavender, a terrace on both floors and a superbly equipped kitchen inside. There’s soft linen in the bedrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) and two-and-a-half bathrooms – one with a deep, designer tub. Stroll into town for your morning croissants, lunch at the Michelin Auprès du Clocher and then sip an aperitif as the sun sets.

Walk 5 minutes to the famous Château de Pommard for tours, wine tastings and classes. Borrow bikes and follow the ‘Route des Grands Crus’ to several vineyards or drive to Dijon in 40 minutes for wonderful architecture, restaurants and the excellent Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon.

Barbara and Gerard has been amazing and helpful, the house is huge and the 2 floors are immersed in luxury style..I would recommend to everyone.

From the time that we walked in we couldn't help but notice how much care the owners had given to this grand stone row house. The old stone structure has been lovingly restored with every modern convenience while preserving quite a few of the "old bones" of the original architecture. From all the new appliances in the kitchen to the comfortable living room (with cable tv) & up the stairs to one of the two master bedrooms (with a very inviting bathtub), this stone townhouse was everything that we were looking for in a vacation rental. An incredibly comfortable house in a great location.

So lucky to have found this fabulous townhouse. Beautifully furnished, excellent kitchen stocked with every cooking utensils, etc & a wonderful store cupboard. Comfy beds & gorgeous bathrooms. Lovely outside terrace. Within walking distance of Bars & restaurants. Lovely walks to neighbouring village Volnay, couple of lovely restaurants there doing great lunches. We enjoyed our holiday immensely and would highly recommend this wonderful house which you could visit all year round. Will certainly be heading back at some point. The owners were great to deal with, very helpful, great communications

The village is completely quaint & delightful, and has easy access to the larger Beaune area through ancient vineyards with moss-covered old vines. Once at the Pommard Townhouse, one has convenient access. A private patio is up just a few stairs, which invites you to linger over the bottle of wine you just purchased at one of the many village wineries. The well-designed & attractive kitchen includes top-notch appliances for you to enjoy preparing your own gourmet meal and the spacious living room is artfully designed for a quiet evening or for entertaining. You will not want to leave!

A beautifully cosy and charming bolthole in the famous town of Pommard lost in a sea of the finest wine-producing vines. Enjoy the village, the wine or walk into Beaune. I would like to stay here in winter!

Nicky, Sawday's inspector

We have known Pommard for many years. It is a beautiful wine village of the Cote de Beaune, at the village square & around the church very “Burgundian”. Very simple compared to Meursault, Puligny, Chassagne and Santenay modest, but perhaps that’s what makes the charm. The house is on a side street, the entrance inconspicuous, but if you come to the small, simple yard you are at home. The old, stone house, which can be reached via a new staircase, has been recently renovated and has kept its charm and dignity, from the entrance through the kitchen to the hall. Gladly again, thanks!

This townhouse is beautiful! It’s a blend of the old (architecture, stone and wood work) and the new (contemporary finishes, appliances, kitchen and baths). It’s in the quaint village of Pommard, with Chateau Pommard’s wine tasting and tours a short walk away. Also close to the fascinating small city of Beaune (1 mile) with restaurants, shops and historic sights. A great bike route through the nearby wine villages is close by as well. Truly a wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing and interesting stay in the French countryside. Highly recommended!

This home was the perfect place to unplug & unwind, a balance of luxury, comfort & serenity. We couldn’t be happier that we chose this lovely home to stay during our time in Burgundy. We didn’t want to leave! True story, we extended our stay. The house was impeccably clean & well-maintained. The owners thought of everything & overlooked nothing. Not only was there the comforts of home such as strong Wifi, washer, dryer & a dishwasher, but also large open rooms with original exposed stone walls, beams & tall ceilings. All the furnishings are comfortable and of good quality.

Château de la Commaraine and Château de Pommard are a short walk and historic Beaune is just 3 km – go for its twice-weekly market, shopping, architectural heritage, as well as the Musée des Beaux-Art and the Musée du Vin.
