Reach out of your bedroom window and pluck the grapes. Well, almost. This handsome town house – all pale-pink plaster and sky-blue shutters – sits in a sea of vineyards in the heart of Burgundy, surrounded by legendary names: Beaune, Pommery, Meursault … You’ve come to the right place for wine-tasting or stocking up your cellar. Equally, you can check out a few châteaux, take a slow bike ride or just doze around the pretty pool. Although a hotel, the place has the feel of a relaxed, though rather smart, gîte. Rooms – some in a separate annexe – are airy and understated with tiled or polished-wood floors, cool whites and pale greys accented with, say, a splash of purple or charcoal. Sleek contemporary furnishings mix with vintage finds – perhaps a Baroque-style mirror or elegant writing desk – and all have garden or vineyard views. Some rooms have high ceilings and marble fireplaces. Stylish bathrooms have home-made organic soaps and soft bathrobes. Breakfast is continental and includes local honey, evening meals are available in the summer only. When the wine-tasting gets too much, chill out in the little spa overlooking the vines.
